“Overall, this is truly a 5 star experience. The room sizes, the spa, the food, the cleanliness. It's all great, especially when travelling with children and/or dogs! Lots of sports classes and friendly staff! Many pools, saunas, whirlpools etc... However, a few small things would truly improve the experience, in my opinion : less plastic. In the gym, for instance there are water bottles... Why not use a water distributor like in the spa area? Such an expensive hotel surely has guests who also like a more sustainable offer? Then the small plastic bottles of shampoo, shower gel etc... Such a shame. Why, again not use a refillable solution? Much fancier and more sustainable! Our towels were replaced despite not having put them in the bath tub, as indicated....and the bed remade after only 2 nights...? Vegetarian food: while it is on offer and is Lovely, it feels not really made for vegetarians but more for meat eaters who want to take a break... (compared to other hotels, such as seezeit Lodge). That's a shame. No vegetarian meat alternatives at breakfast are provided. In the evening no cheese without rennet (rinderlab) was on offer... In general propperly indicating what is what with signs would Also help Vegetarians on the buffet. But overall, very nice! Thank you very much”

“This hotel is a place where you know you will enjoy and be treated right. The Spa area with swimming pool is clean and very well catered for. The food is excellent especially the breakfast. Staff are very polite. The bar is well stocked and the barmen professional and very friendly. The rooms have been recently refurbished. One downside point our the pillows, they are too flat and too soft.This is our third visit and we know we'll be back again.”

“We had an excellent stay here! The hotel is very nice and immaculately clean, bed was very comfortable as well. Location was perfect, right across the street from the Casino and allows quick access to the all the top attractions in Baden Baden. Even with the outdoor concert happening at the casino during our stay our room was completely silent. All of the staff was very welcoming and friendly and made our stay very pleasant. The breakfast here is an incredible buffet and should not be missed.”

“I came spontaneously and got a very nice room. The staff was super friendly and even got me space to shelter my bike. Furthermore, the staff was very flexible about breakfast. I had to eat at 5 am in the morning and the staff prepared for me the food beforehand. Dinner was excellent as well. I will come back for sure. Keep the high standard!”

“We have been in a hotel two times. In 2021 and in 2023. Both times stay was enjoyable and relaxing. The hotel has super good spa area and amazing herb sauna. They are always friendly and turn sauna on earlier on request, even at hard times like current year. They also have free snacks in a spa area and do not try to charge you for a water or coffee, which I HIGHLY appreciate. Unfortunately especially during our second visit a lot of things were also of a less quality than expected. Cleaning was very underwhelming, tea and coffee in a room was never refilled, spa towels never replaced as well as minibar items. Breakfast had only one option - scramble with unknown ingredients. At least hard boiled eggs for people who would like to avoid oil or milk would be good to have. Restaurant food also was kinda rather less quality than a year ago. Overall a stay was still very pleasant, but we were less impressed than at our first visit. I recommend a hotel as a value for money option, especially if you are looking for a relaxing spa first of all.”

“Likely one of the best hidden gems in Germany. Exceptional staff and location resulted in a restful and rejuvenating stay. The meals were delicious and prepared with local fresh ingredients. The access to the Black Forest is literally steps away; be it hiking or biking. Few suggestions, 1) book a room on the lake side as the road is a bit loud at night and 2) bring a pillow as the ones provided are very German. 10/10 and will return!”

“Superb wellness landscape, attentive and very friendly staff, but the room is only for early 80s fans. No AC, a towel heater that made every visit of the bathroom a sauna experience, a door key you could use as a weapon, a bed that caused nasty backpain. Well, I loved the sauna possibilities but the room was bad Dallas or Dynasty. Dinner and breakfast were exceptional. Would have given 5 stars for a better, cooler and comfier room.”

“Enjoyable country hotel near the historic town of Altensteig. Good central location to explore all points of the Black forest. Staff (family) was very helpful and friendly. Good associated restaurant. Guest rooms are in a separate building away from any road noise. Plenty of Mooing and rooster calls from private balcony in the morning. Sizeable, quaint rooms. Ample parking (a rarity in Germany). Lovely experience. Fruhstucke was terrific.”

“Very beautiful, modernized escape in the Black Forest. The food is delicious. Especially the home made Nutella. The spa section is really well maintained with the infinity pool being the absolute highlight. At their gym they offer small selection of different classes. Considering all of this which results in high-end pricing, we were disappointed by how uncooperative the service was. They were really stressing us to make a dinner reservation (although in the end there were quite a few empty tables), pick our food in advance and when we requested a late check-out it was not possible (checkout until 11, checkin 15). I’ve stayed in a lot of hotels and this is the first time that this request was declined. With all of these time restrictions (make dinner reservation until 4 pm, spa closes at 8 pm, dinner at 7:30 pm, breakfast and hard checkout until 11 (the room keys deactivate automatically, so you won’t be able to open any doors) our stay was accompanied by constant deadlines which significantly reduced the joy of being there. If I want tight deadlines I go to work, at a spa hotel I want to relax.”

“Romantic forest getaway - the highlights would be the natural environment with its sights, sounds and the wonderful smell of pine trees; the swimming pool and the sauna rooms (steam, dry Finnish, and one in between); and of course the gastronomy. The fireplace would be an ideal place to sit in a chair before with either a book, a glass of wine or a few friends to talk. Or just take a pot of tea to the balcony and sip it while listening to the birdsong.”
