“So glad we choose the Premier Inn Helston for our short 4-day break. Situated on the outskirts of Helston in a quiet location, it was easy to get to and had ample parking with CCTV 👍 We found the staff to be friendly and genuinely helpful. Our room was, as Premier Inn rooms tend to be, clean and tidy with the usual tea/coffee making facilities. During our stay (2 weeks before Christmas) we didn’t hear a sound from the other guests, which we put down to the rather creative signage ‘Please tiptoe’ on the internal doors! However there were two things that stopped us giving 5 🌟 1) insufficient storage for a 4 night stay. 2) lack of fresh air! - sadly our window, and were others in the block, were NOT for opening. So you’re reliant on the AC etc. that worked fine, but not the same as fresh air! For two of our 4 nights we ate at the May Tree which is just a short 1 minute walk from the Inn. We liked the layout of small areas with 4-5 tables in each, which made them feel cozy. There was a good selection of food and drinks, all sensibly priced. And like the Inn the staff were friendly and genuinely helpful 👍 Would we go back. . . Oh yes!”

“Christmas dinner, booked well in advance. Very poor service, apart from one of the staff called Lloyd. We waited fifteen minutes before anyone bothered to take our drinks order, which then took forty minutes to arrive! Each course took a long time to arrive - thirty minutes or so. The main course, which was the main event, had no sprouts, which were advertised on the menu we booked. Two "roast"potatoes were on the plate - and, as experienced cooks, they appeared (and tasted) as though they had been deep fried then left to become rather soft. The plate arrived with a pleasantly displayed slice of turkey and some nice roasted carrots and parsnips. I awaited the usual veg tureens but nothing appeared. When questioned the waiting staff stated that this was the meal. No other veg. Quite frankly, this was the worst Christmas meal I have had. I wasn't overly impressed a few years ago when I ate a Christmas meal in a fancy location in Truro and only received three sprouts, but this even outshone that for a lack of veg! We did receive some money back from the lady who appeared to be managing the dining area, but frankly, poor food, a lack of understanding regarding vegan requirements and a very disappointing meal for a fair expense was quite disappointing.”

The bedroom was very clean, the bed was so comfortable, and I appreciated the complimentary gin & tonic, which was lovely touch. All the staff were very friendly and helpful. “I had an idea to walk from pub to pub in Cornwall for a wee adventure - in the winter. The weather can obviously be hit or miss, but I do like a good storm, and I have lots of cold, dark, wet experience, have the right gear, etc so figured I'd have a go. When I 'youtubed' "best pubs in Cornwall" - The Driftwood Spars came up. And for good reason! After three days of adventure in some pretty inclement weather, stepping into my room with it's fantastic stormy ocean views was just perfection. I started to wonder how I would leave. The bed was comfortable, with enough cushions and pillows to nestle down. Everything else was great too. I'd booked two nights and dinners in the 'top bar' (the loft in the old restaurant part, overlooking the rest of the restaurant). The food was great, breakfasts were whatever you wanted - all available. The staff were very accommodating too, working out my preferred beverage for my New Year's Eve toast. The location could not have been better. I certainly appreciated the proximity to the beach so I didn't have to walk far once I got there. Plus, the views. Loved every minute of my stay. Will definitely keep it on my 'places to go' list for future holidays.”
