“Great venue. Friendly and helpful employees. Amazing junior suite room facilities. Clean through out rooms, bar, reception, facilities, restaurant, and shared areas. Comfortable bed. Bathroom supplies are useful. Extremely luxurious. Celebrated my birthday and was greeted with a very kind plate with some chocolates. Bar staff were extremely welcoming and created a special cocktail with my favourite flavours.”

“I was in Glasgow for a course and decided to stay at this hotel for location. The hotel itself is bright modern and was spotless. The staff were lovely and friendly. The room was clean and fresh and the bed was very comfy and compared to other hotels in the center you actually managed to sleep as the noise was not as bad. The shower and bathroom was immaculate and the shower was fab in the morning. Breakfast was very good quality and although very busy the staff were very good at replenishing breakfast items running low .The location is excellent not too far to walk to walk to city center. There is nothing not to like about this hotel.”

“Dropped a star because there's no mention on the website that the hotel is inside the Glasgow Low Emissions Zone (LEZ). This meant we incurred a £60 fine parking next door in the Q-Park. Would have been nice to know in advance. Less than a five minute walk to the station, and about ten to the main square - really handy. If you park in the Q-Park on Waterloo Street you save money, and it cost us £35 for two days instead of just over £50. Rooms are lovely, with huge beds, a mini fridge, and hot showers. The decor is quirky too. There were multiple times that we passed reception when there was no staff present, which feels weird to me. Not a good look seeing people wait around. However, the staff themselves are lovely and helpful. We didn't eat in the restaurant for breakfast or dinner, but I will say that the menu looked really uninspiring when you have the whole of Glasgow on the doorstep for great food. Finally, I didn't spot a wheelchair-accessible entrance. There are steps up to the main revolving door (which wouldn't fit a wheelchair in anyway) but assuming that there is one somewhere. We will definitely be back, this place is great.”

“It is a great location and they have good food. The staff were excellent and the room had all the required facilities for making a tea or coffee. As the bar was very busy, no table available, they delivered my food order to my room. The bathroom, however, required a wee bit of DIY. The shower was leaking, sink chipped, and the toilet seat requires to be tightened / fixed. The cooked breakfast was nice, and there was a choice options for a continental style breakfast. Nice having breakfast in front of the fire. Cooked breakfast starts at 9.30am so if you are an early riser, you may miss out. It is also an additional £10.”

“Booked here for a stay during work night out. Was pleasantly surprised by the price of £71 a night which was the cheapest I could find, even when checking Premier Inn/travel lodges etc. The downstairs area is very cool with a nice bar area, seating and pool table. Like others, I was slightly confused about check in but found it quick enough when I kept heading towards the bar and right enough it’s all combined together. Staff were welcoming and let me check in around 11:30 despite booking saying 15:00. They take a £10 deposit per night which is refunded on checkout. Checkout was also very speedy. Rooms were fine - fairly basic but got all the essentials and just what I was looking for. All in all, very good hotel at especially good price.”

“Perfect for a short stay. We were there for 1 night, seeing a gig at the Hydro, and it was exactly what you'd want. Great location, we got a taxi from the train station and it was walking distance to the Hydro. Plenty of good food places super close by. Will definitely stay there again when staying overnight in Glasgow. Special shout out to manager Liz, she's brilliant and an asset to the hotel.”

“Really great value for money! Checkin was simple and friendly, with advice on car parking and restaurants. Our room was great, ground floor with a comfy bed and very little noise from the road outside. Sparkly clean bathroom with a large shower cubicle and lots of hot water. We didn't have breakfast as we wanted to try some local brunch places, but this wasn't a reflection on the hotel in any way. We paid £150 for 2 nights which was more than reasonable, we'd happily book again!”

“Had a wonderful stay at the Clayton, we had a beautiful room with a double and single room overlooking the Clyde. The rooms are very generous in size with all amenities provided, lovely coffee and biscuits included. Shower was good, a good range of channels. Fabulous location. Very efficient with self check in and out options sent to phone. We had a couple of drinks in the bar and although a little overpriced we enjoyed the ambience and decor of this area. We didn't have breakfast in the hotel so couldn't comment on this but we were very happy with our stay and would recommend and stay here again.”

“The hotel staff was very friendly and helpful. We originally booked a twin room with single beds and we were given a twin room with two double beds which was great! The location is very convenient. Right next to the train station with a lot of restaurants and super markets around. The only downside was the bathroom door. It was a sliding door with a big gap so a lot of bathroom smells went into the sleeping area.”

“Stayed here for one night, it was relatively cheap. The room was very spacious and clean. Plenty of space to put your belongings. The bed was very clean, comfy and cosy, there was also extra pillows on top of the dresser if you need more than one/two pillows. Location wise it isn't great, you are at least a 30-35 minute walk into the city centre which isn't ideal. There is a retail park about a 10 minute walk from the hotel which is handy if you need to grab a bite to eat.”

“Stayed here for a weekend. Small but nice room. Heating is great. The breakfast is lovely. Plenty of choice. Close to plenty of places to visit and eat. Only disappointment we were in room 1 which was right by the front door so we were kept awake a lot by the door constantly being opened and shut as people returned after a night out. Also as it was by the entrance there was a lot of loud talking and laughing which kept us awake too. Nice hotel, would go again but would definitely request another room.”

“This hotel is used as emergency accommodation for our city's homeless. I had the misfortune of having to visit the hotel a few weeks ago. The atmosphere as you walk in is grim. The staff were sat at reception like prison warders. One resident was breaking his heart at reception to a member of staff with folded arms. He even turned away to ask me if he could help me during their exchange. He didn't offer to take the gent into a private space. It felt uncomfortable for me but must have been degrading and humiliating for the poor resident. Avoid at all costs. I only hope Glasgow City Council read this review. They definitely need to take a look at how this hotel treats our city's most vulnerable.”
