“I had the pleasure of staying at The American Hotel during Christmas week and from the moment I walked into the Hotel it was such a delight to see the beautiful Christmas decorations and cheerful greeting from the desk clerk. My room was very clean and cozy with all the amenities needed for a comfortable stay. The entire staff was outstanding and my stay was excellent.”

“The location is super, and the hotel is one of the nicest in this area. The rooms overlooking the river has a perfect view all day long. Don't settle for the bay view unless there is no other availability. Dining in the hotel is your best choice as there is nothing near, but the quality is fair while the price is good and the portions are big. The bar is open late, which is excellent. My reason for this rating was that the Mini fridge inside my room was not working properly, and all my special meals went to the garbage. The air conditioner was very noisy too. Other than those 2 small problems, the hotel is very nice and the stuff is helpful. I hope that they take care of the room amenities and update them as this hotel has a lot of potential.”

“Do NOT eat here!! We went to the restaurant for restaurant week and I am struggling to find something positive to say. We waited over 20 minutes for someone to even give us water and take a drink order. When the drinks arrived, I was given the wrong drink (something I was allergic to) and another drink was served completely incorrect (have you ever had a martini served in a tumbler with ice?) No server in sight to help us. I had to find a manager to get help. My pumpkin tomato soup looked and tasted like it came out of a ragu jar. Chunky, not even a hint of pumpkin. My medium rare steak was so overdone. For dessert, despite giving the chef and server a detailed list of my food allergies, they tried to serve me something that I was allergic to. While the manager tried to help matters, he could not fix the quality of the food. It almost felt like we were getting the leftovers from the wedding going on. While it may be a great location to stay at or have an event, the Breakers should be embarrassed at the quality of its restaurant.”

“The hotel room is decent. The shower door doesn't close. The mini fridge makes noise. The snack counter is poorly stocked and the person working behind the desk blamed it on the boss. Zero chips etc. Don't dare ask them for a wine opener, they think it was stolen. The coffee in the lobby was cold and I was told they have hot coffee for breakfast, which stops at 9:30 am. Don't ask for a 2nd cup after 9:30.All around this hotel is only good for one thing...they allow pets. But the people working..don't necessarily like pets.”

“This hotel is the most perfect and adorable place I have stayed all summer. From the cute sitting area and lobby to the beautiful view of the ocean from our bedroom. But what truly blew me out of the water was Teresa at the front desk! She was the most kind, caring, and adorable woman. She made me feel right at home.. she gave us a quick tour of the downstairs offered recommendations for bars and even looked up what bands were playing for my boyfriend and I to see. She was the best! Thank you Teresa!!”

“I didn’t even stay here and now I have a reason why I would never give them my money. I was on the beach and the beaches bathrooms are closed because of the off season. I went to this local hotel, and asked extremely politely if there was any way that could use the bathroom because I had a cut on my hand that was bleeding. The woman was NOT polite, turned me away and said no to go somewhere else on Main Street and use their bathroom. I don’t understand what benefits a business by not letting someone use their bathroom? I understand maybe it’s just for paying customers but I didn’t even have the opportunity to purchase an item or anything because I wasn’t allowed inside. Overall I just don’t understand how a business would even benefit from denying someone to use their restroom. Would never support an owner like that.”
