The owner came out to see us and tell us a bit about the venison's provenance and have a general chit chat - look out for the poacher's gun he found when renovating the property years ago! Good beers and friendly clientele made for a welcome retreat from a (very) wet day outside.”

“We stayed here for just one night. It was excellent. Perfectly decorated for Christmas with a tastefully decorated large Christmas tree which is hugged by the gorgeous grand staircase. All the staff were helpful and delightful. Our room was upgraded which was a lovely surprising seeing as we were there for a birthday treat. We stayed in the main building. The room was huge with a spotless bathroom. We had a 3 course dinner. All the food was lovely and we had cocktails in the cozy bar after. The views from the restaurant when we had breakfast the next day were a bonus. We took a walk around the grounds before check out to take in the view. I just wished I could of stayed here longer. Well done for running a hotel that has so much history and character whilst still being cozy and clean”

“I found this an ideal place to relax in the heart of the New Forest and close to the sea. There is entertainment every night for both adults and children. There is a choice between caravans and lodges (I stayed in a lodge). I enjoyed the use of the gym (Very well equipped and free for guests), the indoor swimming pool and steam room (again free for guests although you may need to queue to enter during busy periods). The reception staff were very helpful”

“Currently staying here for our wedding weekend. We had a rather large booking for food last night before the big day. The food and service was amazing! We’d been given our own room which was great for everyone to be able to talk to each other and hear all conversations away from other tables in the restaurant. Can’t thank the staff enough for how the night went. They checked on us between courses to ensure the night was going well. I’m sure they would have been very accommodating had a problem occurred but everything was perfect! Just to add the rooms are incredible. Extremely clean, little extras in the room are a lovely touch. Would definitely recommend and stay here again if we have another event or just want a weekend away. Thank you all again.”

“Absolutely first class customer service; from resolving initial booking issues to ensuring our stay was the best it could be. Room is a little small, but fully equipped. The facilities are great. The complex had it's own Starbucks, restaurant/bar and gym and swimming pool. Easy directions, lots of parking space available and an approx 15min walk to Basingstoke main town. Will definitely be booking again.”
