Monument Of Westernmost Point In Japan

139 Yonaguni, Yaeyama District, Okinawa 907-1801, Japan

“There was a moment when I was at the westernmost point in Japan.”

Shiga Kogen

( 10 reviews )
Closed until 08:30 AM

7148 Hirao, Yamanochi, Shimotakai District, Nagano 381-0401, Japan

“Shiga Kogen area is a great place to ski as it is mostly connected to the other ski areas (save for a few which required bus transfer to) so there is less scope to get bored with skiing the same runs, good mix or green, red & black slopes, plenty of lunch food options outside of the Prince ski area. Relatively quiet with few lift queues, and close to snow (onsen) monkey park One minor gripe is there are quite a few areas where you need to walk up gradients to get to ski lifts or neighbouring ski areas One major detraction is the lack of any sort of night life once the skiing has finished for the day, with not many restaurants choices connected by the local shuttle”

Zao Onsen Ski Resort
4.4
( 8 reviews )
Closed until 08:30 AM

Zaoonsen, Yamagata, 990-2301, Japan

“I went end of March and the weather was perfect! but the snow was a little bit harder this time of year. Getting around the mountain is very easy with the Sky Lift cable cart systems and variety of slopes to go down. It's very tourist friendly and getting to the mountain was very easy by bus from Yamagata station. Cost about 1000yen for a round trip on the coach bus.”

Cave Okinawa

( 8 reviews )
Closed until 09:00 AM

479-1 Ishikawa Kadekaru, Uruma, Okinawa 904-1114, Japan

“Definitely an off the beaten path experience and cool to check out if you're in Okinawa. Overall, it was relatively short, about 15-20 minutes to walk through, including all photo spots. The cave formations were interesting and highlighted by colorful lighting but nothing breathtakingly amazing. I have no disappointments but did expect more. I do recommend stopping by the local artisan selling hand made and fired pottery located a short distance from the exit of the cave. There is a short walk back to the entrance and parking area.”

Ginkonyu

( 8 reviews )
Closed until 01:00 PM

199 Kaminoyu, Yakumo, Futami District, Hokkaido 049-2566, Japan

“I stayed there on a weekday in winter, and there were quite a few guests, but I think most of them were Chinese. I felt uncomfortable, but since I wasn't on a tour, it wasn't really noisy, so I was relieved. I personally recommend rooms in older buildings as they have a more elegant feel. The bath is truly a Japanese secret hot springs protection association! It was a bathtub that made me want to give it full marks. The atmosphere was especially great in the open-air bath that was created on the premises for the exclusive use of hotel guests. In particular, Tochini no Yu was a wonderful open-air bath where you could look down on the river from the same perspective as you were in the bathtub. There's also the idea of crossing a suspension bridge, all of which make you want to go again if you like hot springs. The meals are delicious and made with local ingredients. I think the best way to know what's great about this place is to visit and experience it for yourself.”

2127 Kurokawa, Aso, Kumamoto 869-2225, Japan

“After our visit to Mount Aso, we had a delightful and satisfying meal in the city of Aso, located in Kumamoto prefecture. This particular restaurant, which is approximately 1 km away from Aso station, specializes in local cuisine and is highly recommended. We were especially grateful to have found this place for lunch, as many other establishments in the area close by 2pm. Fortunately, this restaurant stays open until 3pm, allowing us to enjoy a delicious meal before continuing our journey.”

Kuhē Ryokan

( 8 reviews )

乙19 Yutagawa, Tsuruoka, Yamagata 997-0752, Japan

“A very clean and well-maintained inn. The response from all the employees was also wonderful. You can enjoy your meal in a private room while looking out at the beautiful courtyard. However, I had high expectations after hearing that the inn prides itself on its cuisine, but although the dishes are very elaborate and fashionable, the overall sweetness is emphasized, perhaps due to the taste of the Shonai region, and unfortunately I was disappointed. Although it didn't really suit my taste, the harvest fried rice was delicious. Funamori is a lineup that doesn't have much of a seasonal feel. Personally, I wonder if there will be sea squirts in December. The hot springs are sulfate springs, but the quality of the water is thin, and the baths are a bit narrow due to the temperature, while the river baths, which have a goldfish tank as a wall, are a little wider than the mountain baths, but neither has an open-air bath. The temperature is around 40℃ or so. There is also a family bath that you can use if it's available, and the temperature here is a little higher than the other baths, but it doesn't seem to reach 42 degrees Celsius. Everything except the family bath was modern, which may be a bit of a disappointment if you were looking for a nice atmosphere, but it was very well maintained and I felt comfortable.”

Ozenji Furusato Park

528-1 Ozenji, Asao Ward, Kawasaki, Kanagawa 215-0013, Japan

“It’s a nicely maintained park. Weekdays are pretty quiet, so I usually take a walk listening to music or podcast. However, weekends are a lot more livelier.. many families with kids. Some even bring tarps and shades. Very pretty during sakura season.”

Tsurumi, Beppu, Oita 874-0840, Japan

“Someone had marked this place as closed. But it is not closed! Great outdoor hot springs! There are four baths, each one slightly colder than the other. Temperature is great! Walking there from the bus is a bit of a hike, but the views are great! There is a changing room for women, but local men go in naked. Not sure about the women. The place is free and is apparently maintained by volunteers, so do keep it clean! Also keep it quiet! No yelling or talking loudly! A lot of Japanese don't like foreigners because they are loud.”
