“If you value your hard earned money & proper customer service- I would not lease here. Please read your application agreement & lease contract. You have to pay $1900 to JUST apply here ( not move in), and if you don't agree with the contract, before you sign the contract or move in - they keep all your money $1900. The rent for 1bedroom for me was $2505 per month, excluding other expenses. They were not transparent and it's not okay. It is preying on vulnerable people in my opinion. This is what happened to me: 1. After you apply, you will not be able to get onto to anyone via phone directly- it will be sparse emails, and then directed to a call centre that tells you the leasing officers are busy and to leave a message and that they are not directly in the leasing office. They don't call back. 2. My stepfather had to go in person x4 times to find out what was happening with the application I put in April 3rd and the lease contract was not sent to me until May 10th, over 1 month later. 3. In the lease contract ( which I read thoroughly and so did my lawyer), it stated a visitor cannot stay in the apartment for more than 2 days per month, without prior written consent from AMLI. 4. I saw this and asked if they could be flexible, and they declined. 5. I decided, due to the guest clause in their leasing contract, that I was NEVER told upon tour in person of the property (orally or written), and was NOT in the application, to NOT proceed with signing the contract, even though my application was accepted. To pay for a "luxury" apartment, to then be told cannot have a visitor for >2 days in the leasing contract, is preposterous. For the price point, I don't think the customer service I experienced prior to even moving in is worth it. 6. I was told that my $1000 SECURITY DEPOSIT, that I was told I had to pay during APPLICATION for AMLI, is NON REFUNDABLE. They sent me the term where it says that in the application, yet as I stated before, the application did not state that a guest was is only permitted for 2 days. $1000 is a lot. That is insane. I don't have the words. AMLI pulled a fast one on me out of $1000. + $100 to apply per person, plus $350 admin fee per person. To not give me back my $1000 SECURITY DEPOSIT- when I have NOT signed ANY CONTRACT and I HAVE NOT MOVED IN- is unethical to say the least. They legally trapped me. I do not appreciate the lack of transparency. It's distasteful. I would NEVER recommend ANYONE to live here. I would go out of my way to tell all my colleagues ,friends, family, patients- to never live here due to my godawful experience. You can get way better for the same price-point & amenities somewhere else. I did. Karen(community manager)did call and apologise, but still kept my money. Having a non refundable $1000 “security deposit” during application , to try to legally trap people into signing the lease when the lease says something completely different is not okay. I am really happy I did not live here and dodged a bullet , metaphorically. I learnt from this experience and I would never apply to a place that requires $1000 non refundable security deposit during application BEFORE even being accepted and BEFORE being able to sign or read a leasing contract. Red flag: I missed out of sheer excitement to apply and live there , is AMLI asking for a $1000 USD security deposit before signing the lease. TLDR: I had to pay a nonrefundable $1900 to just APPLY here and I did not agree with only 2 days per month for guests in the leasing contract , BEFORE I even signed the contract or moved in - they kept ALL MY MONEY of approximately $2000 to apply. I NEVER signed the contract NOR moved in. Decided not to proceed. They can keep the money. $1000 security deposit I paid during application- they refused to give me back. AMLI is banking on people this way. Corporate should be ashamed. "Luxury" apartment does not necessarily mean "luxury" services- AMLI JOYA has depicts that thoroughly.”
