“Very convenient location close to town centre. Reasonably priced. Staff are very helpful and friendly and hostel is well-cleaned and taken care of. Beds are comfortable with curtains and a night light for privacy. Most people who stay are fairly chilled, not lots of loud partying late into the night. Only downside is that the bigger dormitories are near to a noisy street, but I wore earplugs and this was fine.”

“Stopped in for lunch with the family on a trip north. Typical pub fare. Yummy food, everyone enjoyed their meals. Cute little country pub with lots of parking. Enjoyed ourselves, will stop in again.”

“Booked one night for my husband and son. Decided on a two bedroom so my son had his own bed. Had a call from the owner complaining and demanding an explanation why more than them had stayed in the room. I assured him that only my husband and son stayed in the room. He insisted my husband ring him to explain why all the beds had been used and who else had stayed there. Turns out the rooms are freezing and my husband used the blankets on the bed to keep my son warm. No other people were in the property. Not great service to be accused of something and innocently just trying to stay warm on a winters night.”

“First time to this place due to cancelation of flight. Well used facilities, room okay had a musty smell, good staff and friendly service. Close to town and shopping loved that. Comfy bed.”

“We stayed here at the start of our trip in December. The rooms are nice but small, as expected in a city. The location is close to the sky tower but the area in general is quite run down, with some antisocial behaviour close by. The breakfast in the morning was excellent and the staff were very helpful and friendly. They even gifted us a bottle of wine as we were getting married in NZ. There is a nice coffee area and restaurant attached to the hotel. Overall a good stay in a nice city! Thank you!”
