3 Chome-9-20 Yunokawacho, Hakodate, Hokkaido 042-0932, Japan

“The hotel is located near the "botanical garden" and is near the airport. From the Hakodate station you can reach the hotel by bus (96 towards the airport for example) or by tramway with a little walk at the end (from Yunokawa tramway stop to the hotel - 900m). The hotel itself is fancy, everything is clean and pretty, one can see that there were some designers involved. The check-in process was easy, but you will have to choose your breakfast time in advance. The room is tiny for this kind of hotel (but I had not the biggest one available). In the room, a bed, a flat screen TV, a round table with one chair and some desk with fridge, safe (ultra small), kettle and tea platter inside. The room also has AC and a humidifier. In the bathroom, a small sink, a Toto washlet and a bath. The shower system in the bath was good (pressure/temperature) and the provided washing products were very nice, especially the body soap. The breakfast is "crazy", it's hard to think of something not available, I don't know the price of the breakfast (mine was included) but go for it, it's worth every yen. To name some dishes: burger, meats, sea food, curry, rice, soups, danish, milk products, etc Regarding the onsen, it's located on 12F and there are two options: public baths or private baths (for a fee). The public baths are clean, there's enough washing stations. The baths are separated in two sections: inside and outside both are enjoyable (but beware of the cold air outside). Overall, I highly recommend staying there, for a zen breakaway it's perfect. Tips: - there's a Lawson at walking distance (out the hotel follow the road taking your right then cross the bridge) - I think using the tramway for moving around is best (one every 8 minutes, max price 260¥)”

1 Chome-18-15 Yunokawacho, Hakodate, Hokkaido 042-0932, Japan

“This is one of my best onsen resort. Stayed a night before at Hotel Banso, Uminokaze is modern, rooms are huge, nicely renovated and one word: Exquisite. Also, you can use the sister hotel onsen! Details: Transport: Located right beside “sister” hotel: Yumoto Takubokutei and entrance is closer to the sea. The entrance is blackish, won’t miss it. From Hakodate JR, taxi cost $1680-2020 (depending which type taxi, the black big ones are more expensive). By tram, alight at Yunokawaonsen station and walk about 5-10 mins depending on snow conditions. Rooms: 5/5 Huge rooms, sea facing, high floors which lets you see the sea, floor is heated, scent diffuser by your bed! Onsen: 5/5 1. The “Relax” onsen is huge. There is also a standing onsen along with 2 normal type and 3 tubs of sake and another 2 tubs which I don’t know what’s in it. Every well maintain. 2. You can access the sister hotel onsen but I didn’t like it too much as it is a public bath area at 11F and very crowded. For first-timer: wear the yukata or the 2 piece, bring the bag with both big/small towels. Small towels are to wipe dry once you finished before entering the dressing up place. Restaurants: 4/5 Small but exquisite. I only have breakfast buffet. Dinner buffet is $6600. The breakfast spread includes DIY Kaisen Don. Shops: 4/5 Besides it’s own shop which has snacks, the sister hotel shop is almost a 7-eleven. Language: Speaks little English but you get by with pointing. They are more fluent in mandarin. Overall: excellent. The pictures advertised are similar to what you get!”

22-1-1 Otemachi, Hakodate, Hokkaido 040-0064, Japan

“This is probably the most comfortable hotel I've stayed in Hokkaido. The in-room washer-dryer is great for those who like cleanliness and want to stay longer. The hot spring bath in the room is also ideal for stress relief. The soundproofing in the corner rooms is quite good. I must praise the room lighting for being very bright, unlike many older hotels that are dim and make it hard to pack at night. The hotel is also very close to the Hakodate Morning Market, where you can enjoy a variety of delicious breakfasts.”

“Stayed 1 night on November 29 in Japanese-Style Room 👍🏽Pros: - Free shuttle bus to and for Sapporo station - A variety of complimentary tea bags in the lobby - Public bath is awesome! There are 7 kinds of baths. My favorite one is the open bath, where I bathed when it was snowing. What a extraordinary experience. - Dinner and breakfast are buffet style. Many options and food is yum. - Some reviews mentioned that the facilities/room seemed old, but I found the vintage Japanese-Style room comfortable and great. I really enjoyed the stay! - There are 2 massage chairs next to public bath. 👎🏽Cons: - Not many staffs speak English so it's a bit difficult to communicate. It took a while for the front desk staff to find our bookings. - Private bath is not worth it. It's a waste of money. - Needs to put up signs about the etiquette of using public bath. When I took a shower in the public bath, the Korean group all showered while standing and kept splashing. They chatted loudly and shouted at each other. One of them even kicked water in the bath......”

“It's a repeat! Children welcome! Although it is not an inn that promotes itself, the staff were very attentive and made it a wonderful trip. There is a large public bath on the 1st floor that is open for day-trippers (there is also a lukewarm bath! Soft-serve ice cream is available in the rest area), and a large bath exclusively for guests on the 3rd floor. Children's cutlery and chairs are provided for meals. There is also one high-low chair. I ordered the children's plate for dinner for the first time, and it was very filling! Adults can enjoy sashimi, fried foods, hotpots, desserts...all of them are delicious and very satisfying! ! Although there is no on-site playground, there are athletic and indoor playgrounds nearby, so children seemed to have fun. Recommended for traveling with children!”

Some parts of the roon were dirty/ old and the room phone did not work so could not call front desk. Informed bed to be prepared at 9pm and it was not done until iwent to front desk.”

“Let’s start by saying this is not a hotel! The room is big and has many things that can be useful. However , they want the money upfront , no room service , no breakfast, bo parking . And it’s double the price of any other hotel in that area. It’s a strange concept for me . More like renting a serviced apartment. Which means it should not be called a hotel”

“Shakotan(積丹) is one of the most famous spot for sea urchin in Hokkaido, and only during June to August that fisherman is allowed to catch sea urchin. Visit this restaurant run by a fisherman hostel during late June 2023. They serve uni(sea urchin) only for one hour during a day, which is 11:00-12:00. Arrived at around 10:45 and there were already around 10 people in the queue. They serve only two type of uni don, one is pure murasaki uni, and the next is uni with salmon roe don. I've asked whether they serve bafun uni(the red sea urchin), and the answer was a "no" of course😂 Ordered the standard murasaki uni don, and it was delicious! Price is reasonable too, snce I have visited other restaurant in Shakotan and those murasaki uni don are more expensive. So if you'd like to have a try, visit here during June to August and be there before 11:00am!”

“A typical hotel by the coast of Mombetsu. Room was quite tight, but comfortable. General nothing to be wowed not gripe except for the blankets: The bed cover apparently is the larger comforter; else it’s just another bedsheet as the blanket! It’s an ok place to stay in; free parking. From the room, you can see the Ohkotz tower; come out from hotel, turn right, is a small supermarket and a decent ramen stall connected to the supermarket. About 7-10mins walk to the left is Aeon mall.”
