“Fabulous! We stayed for a night and enjoyed every moment. The best ryokan experience one could ask for. Our room, Kiraboshi on Level 3, was traditional and well-maintained. The private onsen offered a fantastic view of the mountains. The food was well-presented and delicious. Lastly, the service from all staff exceeded our expectations. Although some didn't speak English well, they were incredibly kind and caring (Mika - we love you!). If you plan to get massages, I recommend booking in advance due to limited space; we were disappointed to miss out on this.”

“A gem find. Reasonable price in the area. Rooms are extremely clean with private onsen that is well maintained. Staff speak good English, and are very helpful. Highly recommend the included dinner and breakfast which are high quality, very tasty and in a traditional Japanese style. Hotel reception provides free drinks (juice,beer, bottled water) which was much appreciated. Location is also convenient as it is a short bus ride in the middle of the Hakone loop - 15-20 bus ride from gora and to togendai. Overall very satisfied with my experience. Would recommend if you’re doing a 2 day trip to Hakone.”

“We stayed for one night. The room was very old fashioned, bathroom was very old and needed renovation (but not that bad). The private onsen was and they served us a lot of food which looked very nice, but the taste is tough for who is not used to Japanese traditional food. We couldn't eat much… We asked for changes but they didn’t accept to do. The waitress and room service were amazing, lovely, polite and very friendly. That is why i gave the hotel 3 stars, but i think generally it is a low value for money!!!”

“For the price you can't ask for much more in Japan. Foreigners might find the rooms small but for budget business hotels this is average. Rooms are clean. Staff is very accommodating. I asked to switch rooms on the second day because we accidentally booked smoking rooms and they switched it for no charge. TRUSTWORTHY I also left medicine and cash in my room desk by accident when I checked out and when I called the front desk and came back they had kept the medicine and cash for me.”

“This place is certainly traditional as advertised, it's quite dated, like the hotel hasn't changed since the 70s. The emptiness of the place and the isolation of the location was not a nice feeling. It's unfair of me to give them a bad review because if you're looking for that type of experience you'll enjoy it, but if not you might be dissatisfied. The onsen was nice. 2000 yen for 30 mins in the private one. And the pricing isn't bad compared to other ryokan. Overall it was probably our fault for misjudging this place when we booked and were disappointed when we got there.”

“Rooms are large but it is a challenge to get the room warm and water hot. Not convenient at all for foreigners as all instructions are in Japanese and the staff does not speak English at all. Hotel is very old style that badly needs some refurbishment. As for the pool, you need to have a swim cap (it is not communicated upon reservation and the comes at a surprise) otherwise you need to rent it for 330 yen (that way too much). As for the restaurant, we didn't experience it since we were told you need to book 3 days before (not communicated either)!! For sure, this way they won't have many customers”

“Really cool traditional inn. Everything was spectacular. The only reason why I give it a 4 isbecause the temperature in the rooms were WAY too hot. They have family style indoor and outdoor onsen which was really amazing. We were the only family there so we were able to use it 24/7. The food was really nicely prepared. Drinks were on the pricier side from what I was told. All in all really nice experience. Staff were extremely pleasant too.”
