“I was an inpatient at the Sankt Peter-Ording Beach Clinic from November 22nd, 2023 to December 13th, 2023. Since the stay was the first of its kind for me and I had no experience with rehabilitation measures, I was very excited about the time there and the therapies that were planned for me. The reception after my journey of several hours was very friendly and understanding, even if the large number of new patients meant that the work was done quickly and a strict routine was noticeable. The personal escort to my room was courteous and very helpful. Since the friendly staff at reception were always ready to answer my questions and the written documents given to me contained a lot of important information, I was able to find my way around the entire clinic after just a short time. In the first few days, the very friendly and competent admission interviews took place with the ward doctor and the admitting psychotherapist. Desired and targeted therapies were discussed and agreed upon, which were then reflected in the therapy plans received. These plans, which have been continually updated in the meantime, were designed to be so stress-free that it was easily possible to meet consecutive appointments. Since I have never done much sport in my life, taking part in dike gymnastics, Nordic walking and various back and joint training, some of which took place in the swimming pool, was a completely new experience for me. After just a short time I noticed an improvement in my physical symptoms. That's why the movement exercises I learned are often part of my everyday life today. In the psychotherapeutic area, I was provided with therapies such as body psychotherapy, body awareness, meditation, imagination training and progressive muscle relaxation as well as Qui Gong. The offer was then expanded for me by the very interesting opportunity to be creative by learning how to work soapstone under supervision. The fixed program also includes participation in a so-called reference group, in which a fixed circle of specific patients meet to discuss important topics, which are naturally very individual. These conversations, which were sometimes quite humorous, also gave me new insights that I can use for the rest of my life. The entire program was also accompanied by individual discussions with the responsible psychologist. Things that come with life, can be stressful and are usually the reason for psychosomatic complaints were dealt with in a trusting and competent manner. In addition to all the doctors and therapists who do a really good job, I would particularly like to highlight Ms. Kleinmann, the lead psychologist, with whom I was able to have the above-mentioned discussions. Your professional approach and sometimes very pragmatic suggestions surprised me at first, but then led to insights that are important and lasting for me. My time in the clinic, which was extended from three to four weeks, passed very quickly. During my mental preparations for this, I had assumed that there would also be profound revisions to influences and events from long ago. This was not the case because, as was explained to me on site, depth psychological work is not possible during a stay of only 4 weeks. This area of work is therefore left to outpatient sessions at home. In conclusion, I can unreservedly recommend this facility to anyone who is looking for peace and wants to get to the bottom of their psychosomatic complaints. Therefore, a big thank you to all the employees who made this time possible for me.”
