“The finest Irish pub outside of Ireland? Very possible. Always a good time in the Shillelagh, always an interesting crowd and the staff are always really sound and on the ball. Good for watching matches - rugby , GAA and football. Tis narrow for sure, but thats part of its charm”

“This was a lovely pub for drinking, set in an ancient building as the classic name indicates! The design includes architecture along the ceiling, vintage walls and posters that channel those vibes too. Counter is very neat and staff were friendly, who served me a pint of Mango Cider at comfortable seating!”

“Great little Irish pub we called in for an afternoon drink on our way out off town. Full of charm and objects of a time gone by. Of course the Guinness was well served.”

“🚇Covent Garden 🍺 £5.80 Amstel ❤️ A welcoming family run Freehouse. . The Coach & Horses is located opposite the Royal Opera House in a quiet side street on the edge of Covent Garden. The nearest Tube is Covent Garden which is a four minute walk away. . The pub dates back to the 1730’s, the current building was built in the early 19th century. This pub has been run by the same Irish family for the last forty years. . This is a cosy one bar boozer that feels welcoming and homely. The servery is situated on the left hand side and has a sturdy solid dark wood counter. The bar area seating is all stools and poser tables which works well in this busy little pub. The pale green walls are adorned with photos of pub celebrations, claims to fame and black and white scenes of times gone by. This pub boasts a red carpet, the cornerstone of any top London boozer. . The beer selection was good and included lots of familiar favourites, two cask ales and of course Guinness. The Guinness here is well celebrated, so much so that The Irish Post once voted the Guinness here as the best in Britain. If you are partial to a short, there are over 70 Irish whiskeys and gins plus Scottish whiskies too. I was on the lager all day so I decided on an Amstel, my pint was excellent, well kept and price point was average. The food is basically sandwiches – but what excellent sandwiches they are. Hot sausages, salt beef, roast beef and baked ham are all served on your choice of bread with gherkins and crisps on the side. . We arrived just after 4pm on a Saturday afternoon and the place was absolutely heaving. The atmosphere here was superb, the vibe was upbeat and buzzy. The crowd was a mix from all walks of life, the pub was as busy outside as in. The service was efficient, the team here were very much on the ball. . The Coach & Horses is one of the most hospitable pubs you’ll find anywhere around Central London, this is a must visit London pub. . ℹ️ Info correct on visiting 29.04.23”

“8 People 70th Birthday. 1pm Sunday. Table pre booked, entered Kings Head, courteous friendly staff showed us to the table. A staff member helped to fix up a Birthday banner for us as well. We all went carvery option. Although almost peak time, we were shown to the carvery area, plenty of options, roast pork/turkey/beef /potatoes, batter pudding , carrots, peas, boiled potatoes and other veg available. Plates warmed and we all chose what we wanted. Very helpful and pleasant “ carver” and assistant. Food perfectly cooked, and good portions of meat offered. Enjoyed by all. Different “ desert” choices, apple pie&custard, ice cream, and others chosen by our group, quickly served, again in good sized portions. We opted for a coffee/Irish coffee selection between us, to end the meal, this was bought to us quickly as well, even though the rooms tables were all taken with other customers. Excellent service, great food cooked perfectly, pleasant and friendly staff all made a great atmosphere and a party to be remembered for all the right reasons. Will return again 10 out of 10 Thank you.”

“Wow what a place! Went there tonight as part of a little trip to London and it did not disappoint. Plenty of different cocktails for people with a sweet tooth and caters to all different chocolate fans! Does also do a little sweet treat menu. The atmosphere was amazing as everyone in awe of all the cocktails and as soon as you walked in, you were hit with this delicious smell of chocolate. Booking is highly advisable as it's quite a small venue so I can imagine durning peak times it's rather busy. (Does also get you a free cocktail pp) Waitress was highly attentive so we never had an emtpy glass. Would definitely come back again when visiting London.”

“We were very much looking forward to our celebratory dinner but were unfortunately let down by the very underwhelming lamb main : consisting of just one bitesize lamb cutlet on top of extremely salty and rich lamb shoulder and puy lentil stew for £27. The crab starter and orange mousse hazelnut cake were lovely though. Maybe we have ordered the wrong main as we got very food envied by the tomahawk on another table. They did take in our feedback, apologise and deduct a bit from the bill but I don't think we will return.”

“Lovely pub, it's one that I've been meaning to go to for a while since moving to the area. The outside looks really inviting and the inside is really well kept and comfortable. Also dog friendly with space between tables for them to lay down. The staff are super attentive and quick with taking orders. We didn't eat as it was social drinks with friends but the menu looks great. There are plenty of choices on tap to suit most tastes”

“I really enjoyed our meal, but accidentally left my water bottle behind and when i rang up to enquire about it, I was assured I would receive a call back about whether it was found. Sadly, the phone call never came and although I followed it up with a text message, I still received no response. In the end, I took the chance and returned to the restaurant to find out if the bottle had been handed in. The same waitress was present and popped into the kitchen and came back holding my water bottle. I mentioned that I had rung up about it, but she dismissed my comment, with "I couldn't care less smile" or "Yes, I heard about your call, but chose to ignore it". I thanked her and left the pub, but this experience has left a bitter taste in my mouth. Considering our party spent nearly £200 on the day of our visit, I'm not at all impressed by Blue Lion's response!!”

“Sunday 3rd Dec 2023, 15:30hrs. No roast dinners left, fair enough, so I ordered the Turkey & Ham Hock Pie. Attached is the photo of the food I received. No roast potatoes, no pigs in blankets, no stuffing, and just minuscule portions of everything else that was supposed to be included. No explanation nor apology given. I left still hungry.”
