“This is / was our local but it's always been a flip of the coin if you get a decent night out or not. Tonight, we were told we couldn't order wine as we had ordered a cocktail... not sure why, never had this before nor anywhere else. Then had to practically beg for our wine long into our meal and far after our cocktail was finished. This place is very hit and miss with service and they often lose out to us financially due to poor service or incompetent staff / no staff / slack waiting times etc., we don't even mind the fact the tapas cost £12 to £15 each for a small plate of food! But we have now decided it makes more sense to pay to get a taxi elsewhere, it will cost more for sure but we will not be wondering whether or not its going to be a good night for staff, service or food! I have no idea how this place gets so many high stars, maybe not enough people reporting the bad experiences just because they are nice people I guess but for us at least, enough is enough.”

“Food was yummy, I am fussy. Chocolate cheesecake was delicious. Really good food, lovely building, parking and staff were friendly. Very quick service. Would go again if local, thoroughly enjoyed it. We spent £95 for two, including £25 bottle of wine. And 3 courses.”

“Had an amazing meal from the veganuary menu tonight. Amazing service, lovely food, and really good wheelchair accessibility for a venue like this. Really good allergy awareness too, can't speak highly enough! Definitely a great place for gluten free options: apparently the owner is gluten free, so you can trust the menu. Will definitely be back if there are good vegan options on the regular menu after January!”

Zizzi - Portsmouth

“Place have spaces to sit outside. However we were restricted to sit at the tables located next the waterfront, for unknown reason. The restaurant was busy on a Thursday afternoon. Table was wobbly a bit. The food arrived literally in 5 minutes after the order was made. The pasta 🍝 was tasty, I would not call pizza original pizza but still okay, I would prefer to more sauce on pizza as it was a bit dry. May be a bit overpriced for the Italian fast food pretending to be a restaurant.”

Zizzi - Basingstoke

“Food I ordered a pasta dish with King Prawns and Salmon. It was overwhelmingly disappointing! It tasted and looked like it was frozen food, pinged in the oven and voila! It tasted bland, less than a handful of King Prawns and the only taste you could pick up was the Salmon, which I didn’t want lingering in my mouth for too long! Dessert The Cherry ice cream was delightful and beautiful to both look at and eat. Served in a matte finished cocktail glass with a gentle drizzle, it was the best thing I had in Zizzi all night - better than the main meal itself! Mocktails A good selection on offer. Ambience/Atmosphere It was lovely right from the beginning, not too loud and not too quiet, a good balance. Good choice of colours inside and lovely plants adorned around the restaurant (fake as they may be). Service The service was great - in particular, we had a girl serve us called “Amelia” - she was lovely; very polite, courteous and engaging - she is a credit your establishment. Hygiene Good hygiene standards all round, including the washrooms. All in all, it was a good experience, but it was the quality of the food that let you down - had the food been good it would’ve been 5 stars, alas, it is only 3 stars. Personally, I would only return for the desserts and maybe some coffee.”

The Mortimer Arms

“Would not visit for food again. Roast was ok but dessert (apple and pineapple crumble) was an hour late and just seemed to have no effort put in, taste like sawdust. For £8.50 I expected to at least be respected, it’s a bit of an insult particularly after being so late. Also roasts are small portions, 3 small potatoes…”

Unit 5 Festival Way, Basingstoke RG21 7BB, United Kingdom

“The food was really good, The Calamari was really light on the batter and great taste. I then had king prawn and crayfish tagliatelle which was also very nice. Also had a pudding, the small platter of 3 options to share, I would say the brownie is extremely small, however the tiramisu and salted caramel Panna cotta was lovely. The service was good enough and the atmosphere was okay, wasn’t blown away per say but the quality of the food helped.”
