“Love the decor, airy building and front of house facing kitchen. The menu is simple but hits all the right notes. We had a 4 generation party and all were happy with their food and service. Kudos to the chef who when looking over at our table noticed the sausage had been of my pizza . They quickly made another Calabrese pizza, very good well fired pizza. They make their own dough fermented over 24 hours and thier pizza oven is a good one running hot, great results! Loved the mussels in cider also All good”

“OK so give me a break on the atmosphere. We were the first table in on a Sunday afternoon. The staff are super friendly and helpful, and I am betting it is a fun bustling place on a Friday evening. The food is stunning, the chicken was succulent with a crispy skin! The margarita was spicy and the fries are a revelation. The starters were top notch too. Go search this place out and don't miss out!”

“Such a wonderful, cozy restaurant to pop into on a cold rainy day. So many veg options too! Got the sweet potato cinnamon soup and the mac & cheese and got the perfect food coma after. Did an americano after to fix that. The holiday/Christmas decorations were absolutely stunning the commute to the bathroom (a couple floors up) and in general I was pleasantly surprised at how much seating was available! We were able to come in and be seated quite quickly on a Sunday afternoon without a reservation. Great place to come while you’re popping in and out of shops in Victoria street Will absolutely return during my next visit to Edinburgh!”

“Such a lovely little independent restaurant! Went there for the first time, and the staff were really lovely and welcoming. The food was delicious - sometimes portion sizes are huge, but here the portions were just right. The service was prompt, but they also let us stay and relax after our meal. “Went in yesterday for an early dinner. Friendly helpful staff, lots of tables and food was good. Ordered Halloumi starter and Balmoral chicken (chicken stuffed with haggis, wrapped in bacon with a whisky and peppercorn gravy), and was more than happy with both. The chicken was fantastic. Good selection of drinks to go with the food, some nice local beers.”

“Was a little while ago I came here with the better half but I have been meaning to leave a review. We had some of the best food we have ever had right here at Michael’s. Starter, main and desert were all fantastic. Even the bread and homemade butter was perfect. The service and atmosphere were also great and this is a place I highly recommend to people when they travel up to Edinburgh. Scallops and black pudding to start, beef Wellington main and a blood orange cheese cake. I’ve also added photos of the other half’s food however I am unsure what her dishes she had. All in all fantastic food, reasonably priced, would recommend”

Food was excellent and very interesting. I am not a regular eater of this calibre of food but the thought and preparation that goes into each dish was very impressive and has made me want to go back again. “Today we went to Salerno Pizza 🍕 for lunch and by God the pizza was amazing. I ordered a full 12 inch vegetable pepper pizza with extra chilli 🌶 and spicy chilli dip, also the waitress brought me a bottle of chilli oil amazing. My wife ordered a 12 inch margarita and she loved it. Overall the staff were excellent, the food was served super fast and i was actually shocked 😲 by how fast the service was, truly brilliant service. 5 star 🌟”
