“◎A friend told me about it and I went to Chiryu. Although the store is new, it is an eel restaurant that was founded in 1960. I arrived early for lunch and waited. There was a waiting note in front of the store, and when I wrote it down, it was probably a neighbor who was walking by. I was told that the nearby eel restaurant was more famous, but I decided to go to Asahiya, which had a beautiful store. The store has a simple interior and the staff are friendly. Good taste and good price It was hitsumabushi. While I was waiting for the store to open, I saw a female clerk bowing deeply toward Henshoin Temple across the street, which left a good impression on me.”

“Miso corn ramen is a specialty here. Topped with butter, it's insanely delicious. The miso ramen had slightly thick noodles, and I was impressed by the amount of corn that was so thick that you couldn't even see the noodles. You can enjoy the cone until the end. I recommend going if you like corn. It was my favorite ramen. I always stop by when I go to Nagoya.”

“素晴らしい。I think this eel rice is the best what I have eaten. Chiefs roasted eel at the perfect texture and flavor. You can also eat through the other way called Ochazuke, which tea is added into rice. I love both way of eating.”

“Absolutely delicious hitsumabushi at ¥3456, crispy sweet char flavoured unagi that will make you wanting more! We also ordered the liver ¥864 and tamago ¥756, a must try as well! Please note that they don't have English menu and they have limited English vocabulary, menu all in Japanese with no photograph. The restaurant is a bit hard to access if you're traveling via public transport, approximately 15 minutes of walking from Komeno Station, I'm guessing that this is where the locals come to get their craving fix. Would definately recommend!”

The Aichi-style red miso tail soup, which is different from the Sendai-style tail soup, was super delicious because it was not sweet, but had the flavor of the broth and meat. “Smarter than your average kaiten sushi place. Bit more expensive too. In general the food is a cut above the kappas and kuras, with quite a bit of variety. Seared scallops were a particular favourite, as well as the fatty tuna. Expect to pay between 300-500 yen per plate. There’s a grand atmosphere, and you can see over the counter to where the chefs are working on the food, which I found fascinating. Service is fast and friendly. Great place, I’ll be back.”

“The eel rice is very tasty. We also ordered the fish liver. It’s a very small dish but tastes so good. It definitely worth going. We arrived at 6pm and waited for 30minutes to get our table. When we left, there was already a long queue and the waiting time was 60 minutes. So you should go as early as possible to avoid crowds.”
