Tomo 21 Sushi
4.6
( 8 reviews ) $$
Closed until 12:30 PM

172 Thompson St, New York, NY 10012, United States

“It’s my second time visiting Tomo21. The first visit was great, from the service to the freshness of the sushi – all superb. They also serve complimentary hot green tea if you ask, which is a plus for me since I like to drink hot green tea with my sushi. On the second visit, I ordered the sushi dinner deluxe and was kind of disappointed because I didn’t see much difference compared to the regular sushi dinner, which I believe was better. Also, my server made me ask four times for tea, and the restaurant was empty, so I was quite surprised. But overall, it was a good experience with nice people, good sushi, and affordable prices.”

Ramen Ishida

“One of the top 2 ramen in the US outside of Japan. It is that good. Small space of only 10 ppl but that new tokyo shoyu ramen deliver. There are a lot of “best ramen ever” post out there but this is the only place worthy of that title in NYC. ChaSiu Don was a great appetizer. I am quite harsh on ramen but the light truffle with the shoyu soup base is amazing. Highly recommended. Come give it a try and lmk if I am wrong”

En Japanese Brasserie

“This place is amazing! I had the Omakase with a sake pairing, and although it was a really expensive meal, it was really, really good. The atmosphere is wonderful, and the restaurant design is pretty cool. The service was top-notch and the waitstaff was super attentive without being intrusive. If you are looking for a non-typical Japanese restaurant that makes their own tofu and has some really good sake, this is definitely it.”

“Sugarfish! I went to with my friends was a fantastic experience. The sushi was incredibly fresh and delicious, and the service was impeccable. The atmosphere was welcoming, and we had a great time enjoying our meal together. I would highly recommend Sugarfish to anyone looking for a top-notch sushi dining experience.”

“Delicious omakase-especially since it was our first time! It was very much a secretive basement restaurant vibe! Seats about 8 people and is 45-50 mins long which is perfect! The sushi chef puts on a show and tells us what each delectable bite of sushi was. We very much enjoyed the 12 piece course, definitely need to visit again soon!”

Rice Bowl

253 W 55th St, New York, NY 10019, United States

“I didn't expect it, but this place has the best salmon sashimi outside of Japan I've had thus far--which is really weird considering it's not even a sushi place. Everything else was delicious as well. Great deal for the price.”

36 E 22nd St, New York, NY 10010, United States

“Food was underwhelming. The tasting menu (first course with caviar and Asian pear and crispy seaweed) was a winner. The rest were mid. The smokiness in every dish did not have a significant progression or change of palate. The porridge was mid and the sweet potato donut for dessert was a chewy and dense. Was not a fan. Great service and attentive staff. But unfortunately I don’t think I’d be back.”

Destination Fish

28 W 44th St, New York, NY 10036, United States

“The atmosphere was amazing, And the staff and service was outstanding. The ceviche was special, (I’ve been to Peru before) The fish were some of the freshest I’ve had. The cocktails were so different and tasty, I’ll definitely be back. This is not typical restaurant It’s so different and exciting.”

“Great small ramen location in bustling NYC with great selections and friendly staff, there’s also a range of mangas available to read and past the time, overall fun experience. Ramen was well balanced, portions were large and price was good. Service was very attentive and professional.”

“A small ramen restaurant with not so many seats. We visited on Sunday noon, and it’s pretty empty. The restaurant is specialized with spicy noodles. My husband tried mild and I had the pork done soup with level 2 spicy. Level 2 is not spicy at all to me. The soup is rich, and the noodles are on the thin side. The only thing I don’t like is the meat in the noodles. It is very fatty and tastes a bit cold inside. I cannot eat second bite. We also ordered the appetizer sampler, I like the fired dumplings and fried chicken a lot.”

Shinn East

“Made a last minute reservation and they seated us within 30 mins! The chef was quick because we were the last sitting but we didn't mind as we usually like to dine and leave. Each piece was generous especially the sashimi.... and the foie gras!!!! The best bang for omakase and definitely worth checking out.”

Takabachi

Takabachi

Closed until 05:00 PM

145 Duane St, New York, NY 10013, United States

“Food is absolutely amazing. The fish is extremely high quality and tasty. I could not recommend this place more; definitely a great Japanese restaurant. The atmosphere is the weak link in the restaurant since everything else is so great. There are some cheaper options with specials, such as a lunch meal, but also more expensive options you can order. It does get quite busy so get there easy!”

Kobeyaki - Chelsea
4.3
( 8 reviews ) $$

293 7th Ave, New York, NY 10001, United States

“We ordered their signature Kobeyaki burger, a shrimp roll, and a beef bowl. All were delicious and filling but the burger really stood out for us. They also have some flavorful sauces to go with the food. Prices are reasonable, especially for the prime location in Chelsea ($34 total with drinks). Service was fast but I’m taking away a star because the staff who took our order showed a lot of attitude.”

Go Go Curry World Trade Center

“Went back here for my second time. Nothing like the first. It was at the end of the lunch rush. Got the same chicken curry I got last time only this time it was pretty bad. The chicken was so rubbery and oily. Ate once piece and threw the rest away. Giving 2-stars instead of 1-star since the first time I came was so good. Consistency is very important for a food establishment. No customer wants to come again and order the same thing and have such a different experience. Will def not be back especially with so many other choices in the area. The first photo was when I ate it for the first time and it was delicious ! This time was the to-go-order. You can even see the difference.”

Azabu New York

“Great ramen place, with standard Japanese ramen restaurants menu, but the quality and taste are beyond standard. Like their spicy miso and tonkotsu ramen. The place huge and has lots of seating, unlike most ramen places small and tiny. Good to dine in there with friends.”

“Came here last week with a few friends and loved it! I'd say it was an excellent experience and there were some entrees that I loved much more than others - the beet/radish starter, the truffle dish, cabbage, and the miso soup were some of my favorites. The orange jelly was super refreshing and the perfect palate cleanser to end the meal. I loved the ambience of the restaurant - calm, quiet, peaceful. The presentation was perfect and the aesthetics on point.”
