“The rooms are cute and well decorated, but lacked a bit of space and counters to put out clothes and other items. Because of the lack of floor space, we could only really have one suitcase open at a time, and barely had room to store the other suitcases. The bathroom was large and spacious with a really nice wooden bath tub. The shower seemed like an after thought in the corner and didn't have a door so water would get everywhere outside the space of the shower. Our room faced a daycare and only had light curtains to cover the windows. If we wanted privacy, we had to close the paper panels which cuts off half the room from our bed area. The service was normal and it didn't seem that the staff went out of their way to go above and beyond, so nothing memorable about that. The check in counters are all the way to the right when you first walk in which confused us when looking to check in. The location is about a 10-20 minute walk from the Kyoto station depending on how fast you walk. Don't be fooled by the temple - it actually is pretty large and takes some time to walk past, especially if it's the end of the day and you're tired. We did our laundry at a coin place 10 minutes away in a residential area which was very pretty but we didn't find anything nearby that was conveniently outside. It's not a bad location, but I would consider staying closer to the attractions next time.”

“Near Kyoto JR line. Just a 2-3 minutes walk and there's a 7-11 right across. Hotel only checks you in at 3pm so if you are early, just drop the bags and go walk around. We had the tatami flooring room and it was quite nice and modern looking. Room was equipped with nespresso pods which is good. Public bath is nice and clean. The men side has a sauna, ice bath, hot bath, and an outdoor hot bath (this I like a lot) Free coffee, water, juice basically all day long.”

“Finally, a true 4 star hotel in Japan, with decent access to local attractions. Comfortable and fluffy feather blankets and pillows to compliment an actual comfortable bed, lots of room, huge, modern bathroom with a great upscale shower and tub area. Real multi-ply toilet paper. Decent price. If the rooms had their own microwave, or at least access on one of the floors (you have to ask the front desk to use the microwave as it stands), this hotel would be perfect. Walls are actually soundproofed. Lobby is nice and modern, staff are attentive and helpful, with many skilled English speaking staff. When I travel, I want to have something comparable to what I have at home, and this hotel didn't disappoint! Looking forward to finishing out my stay here and this makes me excited to check in to their Akihabara location!”

“Pros: Hotel staff were friendly. The hotel room was clean and tidy. The room was equipped with all basic facilities and amenities. The room setting was good and the bed and pillow were comfortable. Cons: There was no makeup mirror which is a bit inconvenient. The room we stayed was facing the fire station, the siren from the ambulance was very loud and noisy and it awoke us in the middle of the night... This is a great hotel and I'll definitely stay again if I travel to Kyoto in the future.”

“One of the best ryokan while my wife and I stayed in Japan. The room that we stayed is not huge but the size is good enough for 2 people. Our room came with indoor onsen so we don't need to go outside the room to enjoy. Upon entering our room, we were offered a matcha and some snack. Kaiseki dinner is served in our room and breakfast in the dining hall. Food is extremely delicious with a great presentation. They even make some midnight snacks for us. The dinner menu written in Japanese is an art by itself. Location is great as it is near the famous Togetsu-kyo Bridge 渡月橋. The great hospitality really made our stay enjoyable, delightful and unforgettable”

“Amazing location for those travelling with heavier bags. The dinosaurs are to die for and were just a cherry on top as the bedrooms were spacious as ever (at least compared to Tokyo). Separate toilet and bath rooms which was a plus. Slippers Great amenities. Breakfast option was delicious. I always had too many buns, miso soup and a few too many corn flakes for comfort. Provide toothbrushes and robes.”

“Landmark hotel in the Hatchohama area, located steps away from the beach. Feels newly renovated with sophisticated Japanese-style rooms with tatami and futon. I visited during the low season and was offered a lovely room with balcony facing the sea. Hotel was peaceful and quiet as one might expect from Japanese accommodations. Onsen is open until 24:00 which is convenient. I opted for a room without food bundle, but next time I would include food as I was told the chef was trained in a reputable ryotei in Kyoto City. Room charge was コスパがいい, and I would stay here again on subsequent visits.”

“This is a medium sized hotel with a view of the sea and Amanohashidate sand bar. The hotel also boasts a French restaurant serving delicious and value for money meals. The staff are super helpful in providing useful local tourist attractions and they even helped me book dinner at a nearly restaurant. They would have gotten 5 stars if not for the fact their onsen is temporarily closed for April to May 2023.”

“In early July of this year, my family and I stayed in one building that was not facing the sea. The room is clean, but there are spider webs in the ventilation fan, and the bed is fine, but the extra futon feels like it's from your grandmother's house. ? I also prepared something like this. The worst thing was that frogs appeared in large numbers at dusk. While we were barbecuing, there were a lot of frogs underneath, and there were 20 frogs stuck to the window glass. There were frogs swimming in the pool too, and I really don't like frogs, so it was extremely stressful. Recommended for those who really like frogs. I usually stay at other hotels in the group, but I couldn't get a reservation there, so I stayed here, and it was extremely unpleasant. It was nice that the fireworks could be done outside and there were buckets available.”

“Reached hotel around 10.30pm on 23 Dec 2023. There were 2 groups of families that checked in before us. There was only one bespectacled guy managing the counter. We were only asked for the name of person who made the booking. Puzzled, we asked if he needed our passports for verification. Only then did he proceed to ask for our passports. We were issued our room keys. We checked with him on the parking ticket. He requested for our parking ticket and gave us 3 barcode coupons. We requested for the parking ticket back but were told that we only needed the barcode coupons to exit. Puzzled, we reaffirmed what he just told us to ensure we heard correctly. He confirmed that we do not need the parking ticket and just the 3 barcode coupons to exit. This was heard by my husband, my teenager and myself. Thus the parking ticket was not returned to us. He proceeded to inform us that check-in procedure was completed and we could go to our rooms. We reminded him that we needed our passports back which he proceeded to copy and returned to us. We were unable to exit the carpark the next day as we did not have parking ticket. We highlighted this to the hotel staff and told her that the previous night duty staff took our parking ticket in exchange for 3 barcode coupons. The manager who was there insisted that their employees will never do that. When requested to check on CCTV, he continued to insist that their staff would never keep the parking ticket. He did not even bother to check or say they will investigate. Instead he just kept insisting that their staff will never make this kind of error which I felt was just so assuming. On hindsight, we should have seen the red flags at the first instance when the guy did not ask for our passports for verification and secondly forgot to make copies of our passports. We should have insisted that he returned the parking ticket. For the loss of ticket, we had to pay ¥5,000. We hoped by sharing this experience, no one has to go through what we went through with this hotel.”
