“Shockingly Beautiful Library! This library has the most amenities of any I've visited - a quiet room, rows of computers in several places for adults and kids, various study and reading areas, expansive windows with serene views of the landscaping that wraps around the parameter, a shaded walking trail, and a large covered playground (even the swings)! Attention to detail is everywhere and it was a treat to explore it. After adding in friendly and knowledgeable staff, the Semmes Library had zero competition as my favorite!!! I found myself wanting to sit in peace and stare outside, daydreaming!”

“We had a great time here. This is a very large and beautiful library with what seems like millions of books. I used to bring my kids here when it was brand new in the late 90s and early 2000s. It brings back many good memories . It still looks good. There were plenty of staff eager to help. They also had a Texas genealogy room that piqued my interest. I will definitely return to look up my roots and ancestors.”

“We came here for the first time, September 23rd and we visited the kids area. The book selection was a lot more than we expected. From older classic books to newer ones and everything in between. There were computers set up for kids to play video games, drawing/coloring tables and a small play area for toddlers. We will definitely come back.”

“Took my nanny kids to go watch story time. We were denied because we didn’t have a library card. I go to get a library card and can’t because even though the kids live in city limits, I do not. We have been to 3 other story times in the Dallas area and they have NEVER required a library card or registration. Not only this, the old location was complete trash. The new location is located inside a business park and looks super out of place.”

“This library is very nice! I love the kid section they have in the back. It is colorful, comfortable, and perfect for the little ones. There’s a room they can play in, it has toys for them too. I also like that all books auto renew unless it’s on hold for someone else. I also like that they have so many events for the kids. We will definitely be back! “I was very disappointed in my visit to this library. I have been here multiple times to vote and never had any issues, but I had never stepped into the book section until today. A lady behind the counter stopped my husband and I to ask what service my dog performs ~ my small service dog was in a sling around my husband and is extremely quiet and well behaved. I told her that he is my emotional support animal. She replied that only "support dogs" are allowed in the library, and my husband and our dog could wait outside in the foyer. My dog IS a support animal. I offered to show my letter from my doctor (which no one should need to do), but she declined. I feel discriminated against for having a support dog. It is clear this woman does not understand the rights of the disabled and their support animals. She had no interest in helping us get into the library. We were obviously not welcome there. We immediately left, and will not be returning.”

“Library staff is friendly and helpful. Several events and classes are offered from babies to adults. There are weekly times for toddler time and another for babies. Several events offered throughout each month for kids and tweens. These times change often depending on the time of year to go based on the themes (fall, Halloween, Christmas). There is a great play area with sections geared towards babies and sections for toddlers. Highly recommend!”

“What difference in time. This library is better. Similarly with downtown Dallas thanks to Mayor Johnson and so many other people. The library gives you better safety options when going online.You can used the computer as a guest instead of other libraries which tells you to use you to sign in when your personal information can get noticed. They also offer GED classes. GED testing. Awesome!”

“Do Not check out books from here. They will charge you for damage that is from rain. I've been here two times and in those times they always find damage that wasn't there when I returned the books. I think they purposefully make up damage to get money for the library. Plus, they are very rude, the people that are in charge. I will not go back there. Just beware. Then when it's not your fault they make it so you can't rent from other libraries. I recommend Patterson because they have never done that to me and they are nicer.”

However, I think they might need consider enlarging the locker room and creating a family locker room where parents could change and help kids to change. It’s not ideal to have kids in men locker room while others are changing or adult would wait until parents with kids finish.”

“The library has reopened to the public since March 15, 2021. And the used books for sale courtesy of the “Friends of the Library” is also open. There is a book drop by the wall for returns, then next to it are shelves for items-on-hold arranged alphabetically by patron’s last name. Right in the middle of the room is a help desk with friendly library staff to help with anything. There are also 2 self-checkout machines nearby that are easy to use. There are several sections and rooms to explore in this huge library, but they are all clearly labeled. The audio/video section is on the second floor. There is a free wifi for use. There are computers for public use as well as private desks for reading/working. I believe there are rooms one can reserve for small or big group meetings. There is ample parking outside and the library location is an easy in-and-out from either FM762 or Golfview Dr. Lastly, the library also accepts book donations.”
