“I have never lived in a town with such a dynamic library! There are writers programs, and programs to help people who want to start businesses, and they are building expanded facilities in the basement for doing sound recordings...oh, yeah, and they have books. I've seen libraries that want to do away with books. Which seems dumb to me. They have a great collection of videos, too. My favorite part, though, is walking into the building. The lobby is an art gallery with a new installation of art every season. It never fails to make me smile when I walk in!”

“Great library with a wealth of resources and activities. The top level boasts newspapers/magazines, a book club nook, a teen section and plenty of space to sit and read. The main floor has CDs/DVDs that can be checked out and a children's section with interactive games/activities and computers. The employees are helpful and the environment is very friendly. We spent 3 hours on a rainy Saturday morning here and the time flew by!”

“This place is great. When you enter this library, can see a large number of books, DVDs, Blu-ray, audiobooks, and also Xbox and PS games. In addition, there is a big room where you can make something with the 3D printer and the laser machine. This library has many group teaching room for reservation. Also there is a large area for kids and teenagers to study and play games.”

“The other day, the library hosted a "stuffed animal camp" where my daughter was able to bring her puppy and it had sleepover camp. We met up with it after, and made a scrapbook from all the adventures. What a creative, fun idea. And they do fun stuff like that all the time. We did a science class and a family egg drop contest in the last month, as well. From reading challenges to the maker space to movie and video game rentals... this place is phenomenal. We utilize both Hoopla and Libby for audiobooks and kindle books, and have recently found the "withdrawn book - booksale." We have rented sewing machines and knife sharpeners from the library of things. The team is incredible, and although a disproportionate amount of my family's time is spent downstairs in the kids section, every bit of it is done with excellence. So grateful for this community resource. Of all the places we've lived, this is the best, most engaged library we've ever had.”

But I don’t like: Anywhere aside from the silent room on the second floor the voices echo from everywhere from the first and second floor. “This is a great public library in Downers Grove. The parking lot is right downtown and always has spots available even though it’s next to the train station. There are hundreds and hundreds and hundreds of selections of books and you can find all sorts of music and different types of media here. The librarians are extremely kind and the vibe is what you would typically expect from the library. It is nice and quiet to do study work and there is plenty of meeting rooms to collaborate with a group. I enjoy coming here every so often for various types of reasons. It is very comparable to other public library‘s in the area in terms of how much you can find in the place. If you’re looking to study or find some good books this is the place to be.”

“I've been coming here with my niece and picking up her stack of books but lately workers have been rude and unpleasant. A front desk person named Valery was the rudest person ever. I've walked into the building and doesn't even say "Hi", I say Hi every time. Ive noticed with other people she does acknowledge them. I've asked her questions because sometimes she's the only one at the front and she barely answers. Ive also heard from other workers that the director isn't pleasant either. Overall staff has been getting worse and I don't even want to deal with them.”
