“Super clean store with knowledgeable staff. The atmosphere is calming and the all the aquariums really set the mood. I can come here when I'm having a bad day and leave a bit more tranquil. I love to get my "woods" from here too, whether it be cork, grapewood, mopani, etc, they have a good selection of everything you'll need for reptiles. All the reptiles, fish, amphibians, arachnids, invertebrates seem to be healthy and thriving- one of the best shops (if not THE best shop) in town. Edit- I was reading through reviews and people keep mentioning gossip and unprofessional behavior- I'm not saying it couldn't happen, it happens everywhere, but even when Lee had the shop in the old location, the staff was friendly and kind. I've even had them explain things to me and NOT make me feel like a complete idiot, so that's a biggie. I feel like the staff is great and HUMAN. Just because you catch someone at a bad time doesn't make the shop any less amazing!!”

“I’ve visited this store for dog specials needs with some success. Then I accidentally brought home a green anole from Florida in our houseplants that we kept in our screened-in porch where “Henry” hung out. We knew Henry and was quite surprised he returned with us We stopped in. Found this lovely lady who knows much about reptiles. She gave us Henry’s species (we thought we had a gecko) and taught us how to care for him with supplies and food. I didn’t realize that section for reptiles was even in the back. We are a week into this, even though he was in our family room about 4 weeks already without knowing it until he popped up on the window screen. He was thin and dehydrated. He’s chubby and hydrated now that’s to Pet Finatics”

“I purchased a four pack of flea treatments for my dogs on Saturday afternoon. I put a treatment on two dogs Saturday night and went to put one on a third dog on Sunday morning. The one I got out of the package was empty. After looking closer at it I could tell it had been cut and all the liquid had leaked out. I went to the store and talked to a clerk and she spoke to the manager and I was told they couldn’t do anything about it because I had already used two of them. When she went to the isle and checked the other one they had it was the same way. She took it off the shelf so they wouldn’t sell it but said I couldn’t have a full tube out of it because her manager said not to take care of it. I’m a member there and will not be buying for my nine dogs there anymore.”

“Don't get me wrong tropic waters is the best pet store I have ever seen/ been too, but I bought a rabbit from them today and I was not impressed with the patting on his tail and part of his stomach. I had to work out the mat and a few pieces of feces out of the tail and that took me the better part of an hour. I get that it's hard to keep everyone clean but that is one thing I believe could be focus a little bit more even if it's just a little brush through. There are the pics of the matting and all the other hair that came with it.”

“I've been coming here since I was a little girl and now as an adult I'm grateful for the knowledge and care of the animals they have. I have a live aquarium, one with aquatic frogs and another with mollies and Cory catfish. They have everything you need to have a love aquarium, heaters, and healthy animals. My shrimps already had babies! It's a difference between here a big franchise that actually care enough to keep everything clean and have the knowledge to answer all questions. Highly recommend!”

“So after a few years of being in this store at least once a week, I must change my five star to one star. I moved right about the time Shelby sold. My tanks have been up and running since beginning of November so I figured it was a good time to swing by and check out how things were going with the new owners. Not impressed at all!! Store was dirty and dark. Several dead fish on the ground that had obviously been there for quite some time. There was even a razor blade on the floor toward the back of the store. Quite a few of the tanks seemed either in quarantine or something because the lights were off on them. Several of the tanks with the lights on seemed dirtier than usual. Sad sad sad.”

I would consider myself probably just a little bit higher than beginner and just being in RBA added experience to my ability to keep fish. My lovely boyfriend and I spent more than an hour just walking around and looking at each fish. There is an INCREDIBLE selection of freshwater and saltwater fish, and a lovely assortment of display tanks that really added to the feeling that these people knew what they were doing. We spent a lot of time talking to an employee named Jack, and he was absolutely perfect. He was so kind and so patient and I ask a LOT of questions, he answered every single one. I also have never in my life seen cleaner thanks than the ones at RBA. Like, absolutely immaculate. Each tank is perfectly balanced with plants and plecos and it keeps them healthy. The other thing that was so telling to me was that each betta they had was in a different tank. No cups! Seriously, if you’re thinking about being a fish keeper or already are, RBA is an absolute MUST.”

“We stopped here to stretch our legs and to rest for a spell. This small little spot was packed. It took me a minute to realize we could sit ourselves and that we had to order at the bar. The restrooms are single/gender use. Hubby ordered the Sicilian w/ a side of potato salad, and I had the Club w/ a side of fries. Everything was cooked good. I got the vibe it is like a sports bar since NC A&T is around the corner. Overall everyone was welcoming and the food was spot on. If we ever find ourselves back in NC then we will stop in again”
