“We stopped unexpectedly in the middle of the night just to sleep before driving again the next day. We ended up staying an extra night because we like it so much. The room was large and spotless, and the bathroom was amazing. The on-site restaurant was very good. They had a pool, hot tub, fire pit, and a bar that's open late (we didn't go there). The staff were very friendly and accommodating. It's very close to downtown Jackson, Target, and other essential stores. We would definitely stay here again. It was a great value.”

“We only stopped here for dinner on our loop through the park but could imagine spending a night or two here would be awesome. Cabins appeared modest based on the size but the convenience and location would more than make up for lack of space. Can't imagine the views you would get at night or early morning. The food at the lodge was very good. The fried green tomatoes are a must have and the blackened trout had a ton of flavor. Service was quick and super friendly.”

“A beautiful old hotel set on Yellowstone Lake. Dinner was very nice and the waitstaff were great. We chose a room with a lakeside view, sadly the roof covered most of it. Our room was a nice size with amazing tile and fixtures. Considering the price I would have expected a cleaner hotel. The lounge area had dead bugs and other dirt under the chairs. Our shower curtain was very molding, it was reported to the front desk who didn’t seem interested in fixing anything until I showed a picture. No apology from the staff at all.”

“My wife and I stayed here while out on a motorcycle trip. Our room was clean, and cool when we arrived. Check in was easy, and quick. The room had a fridge, microwave and a coffee pot. The A/C worked well, however it was pretty loud, it rattled the whole wall/door The location is great, there is a convenience store across the road, there is a restaurant next door, and it is also within walking distance of a great bar too.”

“We LOVED Headwaters Cabins! The overall location is around 5 minutes from Yellowstone & Tetons. We stayed in the larger cabins, with bathrooms inside, and thought the rooms were clean, spacious, comfortable, and fitting for the environment. The cabins were amongst tall conifers, which smelled so good! The front porches had rocking chairs to make a hot cup of coffee super enjoyable in the 45° summer mornings. Employees were super nice and caring. The restaurant's food was DELICIOUS and the servers were very attentive. We asked the host what his favorite parts of Yellowstone were and he came back with a map, highlighted and circled with his own personal favorites. We were incredibly impressed with (I think his name was) Quentin! Overall, one of our favorite lodging experiences.”

“This review is for the restaurant. We were looking for some good trout to have for breakfast. We both ordered the lodges 'eggs and trout' since this is trout country. We were disappointed to discover that the lodge serves steelhead trout. It is not a local trout and has a very different flesh than local trout and is not to our taste. It is, however, readily available commercially. The menu or the waiter should have warned us. We did not enjoy the meal.”

It’s important to note that none of the cabins have WiFi or cell service (We tried Verizon, AT&T, T-mobile and Union wireless) but the main lobby did have starlink internet (way better than other lodges that have Hues Net) Craig was very helpful and friendly, along with his staff. Would definitely come again.”

“When you travel by bike you don't have many options. Your range is limited and in this environment you make do with what you come across. So also in the case of the lava mountain lodge. We were in need of a good meal. Upon entering we did not immediately feel welcome. Would they prefer no one there (we were the only ones). Nevertheless, we took a seat and we were approached in a friendly manner, but it did not feel sincere. We ordered our food and drinks (see below) and filled our empty stomachs. Before we left we visited the toilet. It was really too dirty to visit actually. Smelled and the floor was wet. A real shame. The restaurant looks good inside. But if you zoom in and make contact, it is disappointing. our advice: drive on to Crooked Creek Guest Ranch, everything is better there: the food, the view, the people! well worth the extra miles!”
