Gōra Kadan

Closed until 03:00 PM

1300 Gora, Hakone, Ashigarashimo District, Kanagawa 250-0408, Japan

“This has been a wonderful experience from start to finish. My wife and I stayed for two nights and were welcomed with enthusiastic warmth and generosity. The traditional Japanese dinners using seasonal ingredients, the breakfasts were generous and exquisite. In every detail we saw so much refinement and thought. Our suite was an enclave of zen with such a beautiful nature setting. This place leaves one feeling rejuvenated, inspired and grateful. I highly recommend it.”

“This is a pretty good hotel, located at the entrance to the foot bath. The exquisite entrance method is very special. We booked a luxury suite. The interior was spacious and clean, and we felt very comfortable. The service is relatively average. The room attendant did not introduce the rooms or hotel facilities. They have two Chinese employees who do not come to deal with Chinese guests. I don't know how they manage it. However, the most disappointing thing is the food and beverage. The banquet cuisine is not very good, the hairy crab is very fishy, and the desserts are all Western-style. I don’t understand the meaning of a hundred Western-style desserts in Japanese cuisine. Anyway, we lost our appetite after eating half of it.”

“For the price I expected much more from this hotel. We got to the hotel maybe 30 minutes before check in and they allowed us to check in early which was nice. The room was lacking. The cleanliness was not the best. When we opened the door to the room, we were hit in the face with an overwhelming terrible smell. It smelled like an armpit or like somebody had spilled their bowl of curry all over and then it never got properly cleaned up. The smell was very strong and I cannot understate this. I immediately pulled out my phone and started searching reviews for this same issue and sure enough there are multiple reviews citing this problem. I'm not sure how I missed them while researching. Thankfully in another review I read that there is a small latch on the bottom of each window that when open lets air into the room. For our first couple days in the room we had the latch open the entire time and by the third day it started to smell a bit better after being aired out. This issue alone makes it that I would never ever recommend this hotel or stay there again. Other than the smell, the floors were not sufficiently cleaned. There were small crumbs and things that were visible. We also found a spider crawling on our luggage. The bathroom was small and the toilet was the worst toilet we had had at a hotel during our 2 weeks in Japan. The shower pressure wasn't good and the sprayers needed a cleaning as the water was shooting in multiple directions it wasn't supposed to because of likely buildup in the nozzle. It was also very noisy at nighttime. The good things: the location was great and so close to the train station. Tons of shopping nearby and nice restaurants. Overall I was disappointed that for a hotel at this price and with a great star rating had so much wrong with it. There are plenty of hotels to stay at in Tokyo. Don't choose this one.”

“Beautiful property that provides some beautiful views of Mt Fuji. The facilities are fantastic. However, the communication is extremely lacking for English speaking. You usually don’t expect the Japanese to know English well, but this is a $1k USD per night property. At an average hotel, it is okay for lackluster English. However, it is inexcusable in my opinion for a property at this price point. There were several instances where there was miscommunication and lack of understanding from the staff. It caused us to miss our train on the outgoing day and caused us to be 35 minutes late to a bike tour we signed up for. It also caused a staff member to wait an unbelievable 1 hour 45 minutes to fill up our onsen bath in our room — ruining our ability to enjoy our private onsen on our last morning and also the staff couldn’t arrange for any breakfast options in the room. Those 3 big instances were enough to really frustrate and take away from our experience. Beautiful property, but I cannot recommend.”

Kyukamura Nikko-yumoto

温泉 Yumoto, Nikko, Tochigi 321-1662, Japan

“Good hotel with an onsen. Good view of Lake Yunoko from the room. There’s also a raised walking path behind the hotel along the lake. The rooms are reasonably big and their dinner and breakfast are also ok. Their staff are very polite and attentive. However for the price of about USD350 per night ( half board ) it is definitely on the high side.”

519-9 Kowakudani, Hakone, Ashigarashimo District, Kanagawa 250-0406, Japan

“One of the best stays of my life. Everyone should experience a Ryokan in their life and this one takes the cake. Great staff and service is just a small part of it. A private Onsen overlooking lush green trees with a river flowing through is a view that stays with you. Luxury amenities that are totally worth the price. The chef was so amazing at accommodating all dietary restrictions. The dinner and breakfast (both Japanese style) were experiences of a lifetime. The staff was in constant communication with us well before our arrival. Highly recommended.”

“I choose to stay here over other Tokyo locations because it was convenient (close by train to major tourist spots and close to my friend’s work and apartment). I also wanted to check it out since it is pet friendly and I might make a trip with my dog in the future. What a pleasant surprise this hotel was! Very spacious room (rare in Tokyo), great view of the park, loved the rooftop pool and the staff were all so nice and spoke English which was helpful. Will definitely stay here again the next time I come to Japan. Not only was the hotel great but the location of the hotel is awesome if you love plants. Cute courtyard area with lots of cafes, restaurants and little shops. Tons of people walk their dogs outside and it was so relaxing to sit and people watch. I also brought home some gifts for my dog from the pet shop nearby. I’m not surprised this area is getting more popular really loved it here. Will definitely come back in the future!”

“Absolutely delightful place. Perfect to enjoy a few relaxing days and wineries visit. The 2nd floor offers some wine on tasting, the onsen is stunning with the outside bath leading to a small cave and the food(especially the breakfast is delicious). Japan, 〒044-0080 Hokkaido, Abuta District, Kutchan, Nisekohirafu 1 Jo, 188-19 ニセコひらふ1条3丁目6-32 シャレーアイビーホテル

“Probably one of the best hotel we have stayed! Mr Moi San was especially helpful and hospitable. He took care of our needs and ensure we had a pleasant stay. When we have requested for him to help us to book a taxi to a restaurant to/fro for dinner, he even called the taxi driver to ensure we had boarded the taxi to return back to the hotel safely. Other than that, hotel's view is awesome as we were facing Grand Hirafu Ski Resort. The room is huge and we were given a "super king size" bed, good enough for 3 adults to sleep comfortably. Will definitely recommend to others and come back in future! :)”

Hotel J-ship Osaka Namba

2 Chome-2-14 Minatomachi, Naniwa Ward, Osaka, 556-0017, Japan

“This capsule hotel was exactly what I wanted to experience during my visit to Japan, and I highly recommend it. While they don't provide breakfast, the facilities and service here are top-notch. I suggest opting for the capsule rooms – even if you choose a single room, there's just a minimal barrier, so why not spend a little extra to fully immerse yourself in the experience? Each person gets a private locker, and the bathroom facilities are exceptionally clean, with shampoo, conditioner, and body wash provided. Additionally, there are moisturizers and lotions available. I noticed a lot of travelers from Asian countries here, probably because of the fantastic value for money. I'll definitely be staying here again!”

Hotel Kazuno

Closed until 03:00 PM

Nakayachi-5-1 Towadaoyu, Kazuno, Akita 018-5421, Japan

“This hotel is in a state of disrepair and requires immediate attention. The room was extremely unclean, with numerous short and long hairs scattered throughout. This leads me to believe that it wasn't properly cleaned, as it would have been difficult to overlook so many hairs. The quality of the food was terrible, prioritizing quantity over quality. Better options can be found in any convenience store. Location is the only positive thing.”

Hakkoda Hotel

“We didn’t stay at the Hakkoda Hotel but are so, so, so grateful for the hotel staff’s kindness, assistance, and hospitality (to non-staying guests!) on a very difficult & trying night in Hakkoda. We couldn’t be more appreciative - massive kudos and a big THANK YOU to the team who helped us out!”

You can also use it for meals only. There is a farmers market next door. Only the bath facilities can be used on Do Hamadori. Kimpton Shinjuku Tokyo
4.2
( 8 reviews )

3 Chome-4-7 Nishishinjuku, Shinjuku City, Tokyo 160-0023, Japan

“Had a really nice one night’s stay at the hotel. The room was really nice with a firm bed, great shower and bath, and a complimentary bottle of wine. Our neighbours came back after midnight and woke us up, but the staff were helpful when we called the front and next door quietened down soon after. We had breakfast included in the booking, but I was a little confused when they started explaining prices to us. Fortunately it wasn’t anything to worry about and we were able to order the omelette and tuna crepe breakfasts which were more than enough for us. My wife was able to request maternity and allergy provisions with no problems and the staff were very helpful.”

Arazato-1405-201 Ueno, Miyakojima, Okinawa 906-0202, Japan

“We stayed 2 nights The best part of the holiday was mr Ryosuke Sato our concierge , he saved us ! He gave us great information, Booked Restaurants for us and went out of his way to make us feel happy welcome and relaxed. I cannot say the same about the breakfast staff who never seem to smile and did not try hard enough. The location of the hotel is very good but the beach is underwhelming. It is very small. We decided to leave a day earlier and move another hotel that was more suitable for us with superior service a better beach and was more welcoming .”
