17 Rue Roquépine, 75008 Paris, France

“Good mani/pedi, but very poor value for the experience! Don't come here if you expect pampering or massage or 1 hour ½ treatment! This is your typical SE Asian mill. First, let me say that my nails are great and I expect the polish to last. Alice and the other technician did a good job. And the staff was very sweet and friendly. What I am objecting to is the value for the service in the business which is the responsibility of the owner. I paid 70€ online for "manicure and spa foot beauty package in semi-permanent varnish". The treatment is advertised as taking 1 hour and 30-40 minutes. This shop is of the fairly typical sort we have in the U.S. for a much cheaper price. So, I was expecting more by way of ambiance and pampering. This was my mistake. I walked into the little place and the first surprise was 3 young men on their phones plus 2 women and the white boss. I'm not used to so many men in a salon, but thought, "Okay, this is a little uncomfortable, but it's very Asian and I know the culture." It was sweet really, they were singing along with a Vietnamese (?) music video and the music was fun and not jarring. Now here's the problem, first the boss convinced me I needed to pay 20€ more for something and since I don't understand the process, I agreed. Upsells in general are suspicious though common, like at a garage. It made me uncomfortable. Then, the discomfort that didn't match the advertising. Feet into a cool tub of water. No warmth, no fragrance. Then the worst! during the process, I noticed that they were not cleaning under my nails! (Since my feet are difficult for me, this was one reason I need pedicures.) I pointed the dirt out to the manicurist, and she told me "later" and proceeded to paint the varnish on my nails. There was no "later". I asked that they not cut my cuticles, but she did any way. But the most disappointing thing was the massage. Or lack of it. Since the mani/pedi was done in 45 minutes, I expected at least a half hour massage . Well two or three swipes of lotion on my hands is not a massage! The woman lied and told the owner she had done the foot/leg massage when she hadn't. I was polite in asking about the massage and said if she had done it, I hadn't noticed. The guy told her to do it. She clearly wasn't really trained, and did a few rubs and some pounding up my leg over my clothes. I was out of there in 55minutes! They shorted me 35-45 minutes of my "spa beauty package"! Half of it! So if you are expecting a good massage, something healing and caring. Some pampering, this is not the place. I'm sure the guy will write some defensive garbage, blaming the customer and not taking responsibility for the truth. But he is not running a spa, no matter what he asserts.”
