“If you are on a road trip along 84, you must stop here. It’s a little out of your way but worth it. You can get a more quintessential taste of American than this diner. The moment we walked in, locals were chatting with the workers behind the counter and one of the employees looks at the car we pulled up in and says “you are not from around here” and proceeds to talk to us. Based on recommendations we got the hot pastrami mikes burger onion rings and a milk shake. Everything was delicious and priced reasonably. My kind of place.”

“After eating a lot of pizza here in CT over the last week, we felt this was the very best. Got calzone, wings, spaghetti pizza, fettuccine alfredo, white & cheese pizzas to sample from. Everything was great. Surprisingly, we loved the spaghetti pizza the very best. Who would have ever thought? But was the epitome of yum! This is the kind of pizza you remember for years... When we're in our eighties, we'll all be saying, "Remember that spaghetti pizza we had on our Mystic, CT trip?"”

“My son and I used to have dinner here regularly when he was younger. It had been a few years so we decided to grab some food from the buffet last night. I spent $43 on one salad, one small cup of soup, two chicken patties, a small pile of pasta, and a soda. I know Citarella is expensive, but that was ridiculous. it would’ve been worth it if it tasted extraordinary… But it was below average. My son’s food – the breaded, chicken fillets, and the pasta – we’re not edible. The chicken was dry and tasted like very old cooking oil. He couldn’t even cut it with a knife. The pasta lacked flavor. Tomato sauce was scant and uninspired. This is a decent enough store to fly by in a pinch for some unique groceries perhaps, if you don’t mind spending a lot, but for their buffet, not so much. The Whole Foods buffet is much better.”
