“I go to Alwan's a couple of times a month, usually just to get beef fat trimmings, spending under $10. But you would think I was spending thousands with the excellent customer service that I receive. I have to go to the meat counter and ask specifically for this product and they're always so kind and accommodating. One gentleman in particular (he uses an assistive speech device) is just an absolutely charming fellow. Actually everyone that's helped me has been great! Last time I was there I was helped by a young lady who went out of her way to make sure I got the right product, just to my liking. The cashiers are so sweet and polite. I had the most lovely conversation with a woman one morning (we bonded over steak and lipstick.) She made me feel like family. This is a wonderful place; we are so lucky that Peoria has this amazing resource.”

“I only saw 1 truck driver review so i decided to take PLENTY of photos to post as much info and angles as possible to help the next person. 1st and most importantly ALL STAFF EMPLOYEES ARE AMAZING KIND AND RESPECTFUL SO PLEASE WALK IN AND GIVE THEM THAT FROM THE GET GO! You will definitely get it back. (: GPS brought me in Grand Ave to Taylor to Laurel St ... super thankful for the empty lot across the street as I used it to turn around to go back out the way I came in. Looking at the surrounding area satellite view it did not look promisingly easy to get out if I had not turned around. NOW you will need to borrow some room from the other side of the road to make some turns even with your tandems slid all the way forward. (: So pay attention on your turns. Added plenty of photos for you. You pull forward so your not blocking the opening in the concrete barrier they have built in the back. They will let you know when to open your doors and when to go ahead and turn off your reffer. They are quick took 20 to 30 mins to get unloaded ... they will bring your paperwork out to you once they are done counting and checking the delivery in. SIDE NOTE - They have amazing food. Friday Rib lunch special well worth it. & they have beef sticks they make in house! They are back in a cooler by the meat counter (I BOUGHT Hot Smoked and can never eat just 1) So during your wait for the paperwork you can totally get out of your truck and enjoy the environment your currently surrounded by. Deff old school market feels as many has posted before me. (: ENJOY!”

“Shakou does look beautiful from the outside,but I was not impressed with food. First of all, everything could use some extra touch, either more seasoning or more attention to how the food exits the kitchen. The calamari were more on the chewy side, and the spicy dipping sauce wasn't remarkable. On the other hand, the nachos with the spicy tuna dip were really good. For our entrée we ordered a Tokyo steak with a potato croquet and sautéed vegetables and Sapporo NY steak with jumbo shrimp. Unfortunately, Tokyo steak was not cooked properly as I ordered a medium well steak,but it came out medium. Our server took it back to the kitchen to fix it,but in the meantime, everything else on the plate got cold. The veggies were fresh but did not have any bold flavors. Still, as a courtesy, our server offered we would not have to pay for the Tokyo steak. It was a nice gesture, and it came as a surprise. The Sapporo steak was much better than the Tokyo steak. The accompanying shrimp were cooked perfectly, and they had a delicious glaze on top. Overall, the food was okay, but it could have been better considering the high ratings. Finally, I think that the music that was played at Shakou completely did not match the classic/elegant/Asian atmosphere of the restaurant. I believe that there are better choices than electronic dance music that would go well with the relaxing feel of Shakou..”

I arrived here during their happy hour so I chose a simple three cheese board with olives 🫒 bread 🍞 almonds grapes 🍇 jam vegetables and extremely delicious cheeses. I also picked the mussels on toast points from the happy hour menu. Everything was extremely tasty and very generously portioned. Alex was my server and he had a great enthusiasm and passion for everything. I also picked a housemade strawberry 🍓 gelato for dessert 🍨 which was creamy and bursting with natural strawberries. Highly recommend this adorable wine 🍷 bar/charcuterie Cafe if you love meats 🍖 and cheeses. Great atmosphere and there is an adjacent speakeasy which offers its own unique menu of drinks 🍸 and snacks.”

“Nestled in Chinatown by the border of Pilsen, the restaurant is located in a building/mini mall with other shops. The restaurant has a very sleek and modern aesthetic with hints of Asian influence. We were seated in one of their booths which was very room and spaced out well from the other booths. We had our own server cook our assortment of meats and veggies. We decided to do the carnivorous spread which was a great selection of various types of meats including some wagyu. Includes some veggies, sushi, soup and white rice. Everything was incredibly delicious and the service impeccable. Their cocktails were perfectly concocted as well. Overall a 12/10 experience”
