“We were most recently here for Oakland restaurant week which featured a tasting menu that was overall pretty delicious. Their salad and squid ink paella were great, but the patatas bravas were a bit disappointing — way too crunchy. The chocolate pudding was perfection. We sat upstairs and i was surprised at the difference in ambience from downstairs, where the tables are a bit more spaced out and it’s not as dark. We were close enough to hear every word of the tables on either side of us. Romantic lighting, but not spacing! The last few times we’ve been here were just for tapas & cocktails or cava, and I enjoyed the more casual experience downstairs than the full meal. Parking is limited in the neighborhood but it’s central to busses & BART, and not too far from the lake. Plenty of pescatarian and a few vegetarian options.”

“I’ve been meaning to try this place for a while. Overall a good experience, but not excellent. I’ll break it down though: Food was generally good - but not excellent. Appetizers were generally all on point. Pastas could have been more al dente. I’d get the Ragu di Maiale again, though it felt like it could use more seasoning. I wasn’t impressed by the Bucatini chi Finucchiede, but that could have just been me. Pork shoulder was worth getting. Deserts were great. I enjoyed the lemon sorbetto - which I though was flavorful, but not overly sweet or sour. Cannolis we’re also really good. I think with a little tweaking, this could get to a 5/5. I wish I could give the food a 4.5! Service was a little slow. There was probably a 20 minute wait before we got our final fish. In fairness, I think the place was busy and short staffed. Atmosphere was great. The out door patio is really nice. Lots of heat lamps. There was live music. And - it’s a dog friendly patio! Overall, great experience. Everyone was super friendly. I’d definitely return.”

“I had the grilled trout special that had potential if it wasn't overcooked, perhaps the result of sitting underneath the warming lights for too long? My wife's lasagne, on the other hand, was at less than optimal temperature. It's a tiny space and we had to choose between a high-top by the door on chilly night, 47 in Pleasanton, or a cramped location on the wall where you were in contact with the chair of the person behind you. We chose warmth. We were a walk-in of two on Friday, so there's that. Our server was friendly and did their job, no complaints here.”

I love an overflowing Falafael, each bite was full of vegetables with flavors worth chewing and enjoying. Don’t compare this to your traditional, compare it to what you hope is available in the future! I’ll be back for the sweet potato fries!”

“Every dish was delicious and some were out of this world. I am not a fan of celery but wondered how they would elevate it. Wow, it was one of the best, most surprising, dishes I've had this year. And they sell the habanero dressing in this mini fridge by the "bottle shop" nook. DAYTRIP is now one of my top faves in the East Bay and we are already planning our next dinner here.”
