“This is a weird little hidden gem restaurant. You enter from what looks to be the back of a take-out place and walk through to a small dining area. Family-run with friendly staff but sometimes communications breaks down... we didn't have any knives at first. Grape leaves and pita was fresh and tasty. Falafels were very flavorful. My husband had the gyro on a salad. I was happy to close the meal with a slice of baklava and Turkish coffee. The owner was excited to provide us with "edible" sweet spoons made of cookie biscuit, and quite the novelty. The food was excellent, and the people quite lovely. Be warned though, access to the restrooms are narrow and not for the handicapped.”

“After being seated, we waited a long time, and eventually asked the wait staff for menus. The food was quite over priced for what it was. The dessert cake was dry and bland. We left disappointed, however the decor was nice.”

“Delicious, flavorful dishes in an ambient setting. The wait staff was very helpful guiding us in the appropriate rice to pair with the beef stew. The people are friendly and the food is unique. Can’t wait to come back here and make it a neighborhood spot.”

“Great food at very reasonable prices. I had the brunch pizza (5/5), the falafel (3/5) and the sangria (5/5). Happy hour is on Sundays till I think 3pm. Ambiance is also nice and so is the service. Brunch pizza (5/5) - really good middle eastern spices (Mint, cumin, etc.) combined with loads of gooey cheese, mushrooms, and eggs. A great hearty meal that tastes super good and is well priced for what you get (about $18). Not traditional at all but still great for brunch Sangria (4/5) - great sangria with a very good amount of alcohol. A steal for such a low price during HH (like I think $6). Falafel (3/5) - don't get this. It's hard and not very flavorful. I feel like they didn't fry it properly or it wasn't fresh.”

“Living work of incredibly sincere art, in which the artist generously allows visitors to sit and have a meal. Really incredible. He has the daily menu memorized. We had hummus, cauliflower with a light pomegranate sauce, lamb shank, and koshary.”

“The food was pretty good not mindblowing, they asked us a bit too often how everything was. Not their fault, but when other restaurants do it better this place was more 4 star than 5. Food came reasonably quick.”

“Lovely spot in Park Slope for a meal at any time of the day. A lot of things to like about Zatar! Service was excellent, had requested a table for a party of 5 and even though many members were significantly late, there was no complaints from staff. They were accommodating and waited until everyone arrived to take orders. We were even allowed to run down the street to grab some bottles of wine as Zatar is BYOB. Amazing! Food was served rather quickly, and everything was fresh and tasted well. Extensive dessert menu is available and I can say the Arabian Cheesecake is certainly worth a try. I was impressed. Overall, if you're looking for a Mediterranean/Middle-Eastern restaurant in a casual setting, check out Zatar Cafe & Bistro.”

“My new favorite take out spot. Absolutely love their chicken Chapli kebabs over rice with a side of salad and fries. Their sauces, flavors and presentation is so delicious. I have tried the spicy red, white, green and kicker sauce. The portion sizes are huge and they are very generous with the amount of sauce they drizzle on top. The chapli kebabs are made to perfection, fries are crispy and salad is always fresh. It’s a food truck and usually not too crowded. The service is also quick. Must try!”

“The fried chicken and white sauce were outstanding but the blondie tasted as if it had been dug up from the bottom of the freezer after many years, awful! My loaded fries were just ok. It would have been better if they’d used white meat. Overall I was pleased with the food and would buy from here again.”

“Really enjoyed dinner at this Israeli hotspot in a chic Williamsburg hotel. Food quality was superb - had the Tunisian Tuna Crudo and the Arabic Salad for starters. The tuna was good for 2 and salad was fresh. Entrees had similar middle eastern spices. The Persian Margarita was tasty! Service was friendly and prompt.”

“Went with a group of 4 to Lamalo for a friend's birthday. My friends both enjoy the salmon skewers and we all loved the majadra! I ordered the red snapper in grape leaves which was good but certainly could have been better. Grape leaves should be easily consumed and almost every other bite had stems in it. I also think the dish could have been further enhanced by adding red onion or tomatoes on the skewer, like they did for the salmon skewer. While the staff was friendly, great, atmosphere, the food was not "NYC caliber," so I will not be going back.”

“All I can say is Oh. My. Lord. I wish I lived in NYC so this could be a staple. Ambiance is average, but hard to do something really special in a mall. But I appreciated the tables weren't on top of each other. It was a little hard for some of our party to find as well (signs not as visible if you are walking in from the side; we had no problem coming up from the escalator). The food though! We had the Mezza plate with hummus, and kababs (octopus, chicken, steak). First off, the mezza plate would have been enough for dinner by itself. And was sooooo good. Hummus, pickles, potato salad, pickled onions, olives, cucumbers, tahini, beets, spicy carrots, and baba ganoush. What I loved most were their pitas. Unlike most places where you get pita bread that is thin and a bit dry, their's were thick and bready. Absolutely to die for!! And all the meats were really good! Rich flavors and perfectly cooked. The servers were friendly and attentive.”
