“If you're going on a Route 66 this place is a must-stay. Just the outside is worth a stop, but a room here is like stepping back in time. All of the furnishings are original, and in excellent condition. My room even had a WORKING ROTARY PHONE! I called everyone I know from that phone just because ROTARY PHONE. The owner I met with was super friendly, and we chatted a bit about Tucumcari and Route 66 overall. 10/10, would definitely stay here again! On a side note: I recommend reserving this well in advance, as I hear that it books up pretty quickly and often. I think I reserved my room about 4 months out, but I would guess that during prime season, you might want to book further in advance. I was there on New Year's Eve, but even then, I think they were fairly booked up.”

“Another win for Hampton Inn! We're moving a family member and have a U-Haul trailer in tow. Finding easy access parking is a challenge at times but this location has that covered. While there is no space in the parking lot for our combo, the street out front was perfect for the task. It's on a dead end street so through traffic was not a concern. Conveniently, I found a spot visible from our room. The room itself was great. 2 queen beds were very comfortable and allowed a good night's sleep for everyone. There was enough room to let us spread our stuff out and be comfortable during our early afternoon arrival and not too early departure. My only observation is that the entrance door on the East side of the building had a sign saying that it was locked at all times. It was open every time we went out to walk the dog. Maybe it's locked at night but, during the day and early evening, it was not. Breakfast was good and the dining area was spacious and well maintained.”

This was our second visit to this location and we would be willing to return again. Hope they can complete the renovations on the laundry room. The views from this KOA make this an amazing must stop.”

The location is pretty good, walkable to a few restaurants, and there are sideways and grassy areas to walk dogs. We were on our way out at breakfast, but it looked good & we were able to grab a few things for the road. We would stay here again if we’re passing through.”

“A very laid back attitude greeted at this property in the heart of "alien country". Easy to access and close to plenty of things to do. The hotel is a bit older and the breakfast had several options but not the best presentation. It would have been better if we had known the pool was closed before booking on the Hilton's own website but didn't find out we couldn't use the pool facilities until after 7 hours on the road in late August.”

“Wow, am I glad I stayed here! I cannot say enough about the hospitality of the owners. My experience here would’ve been fine anyway, but when I came out in the morning and my car wouldn’t start, Stephanie bent over backwards to help me out—letting me borrow tools, trying to give me a jump, and even giving me a ride into town and back (turned out to be just a dead battery—I greatly appreciate not having to walk a mile or more to the auto parts store lugging the battery in mid 90s heat). I didn’t see this place initially when searching for hotels in Clayton, but noticed it driving into town. Turns out they had the lowest rate in town. The room itself was no-frills, but plenty comfortable. The bed was nice and firm. A/C ran ice cold all night, and provided enough white noise to cover up any loud noises from the highway or other guests loading up and leaving in the morning. When I discovered there wasn’t a mini-fridge (I forgot to ask when I checked in), they offered to put my ice packs in their freezer in the office. There was an old musty/smoky smell in the room (nothing recent, it was a non-smoking room but smelled like it had been smoked in quite a bit many years ago), but it dissipated quickly once I turned the air on. Nothing unusual for an older hotel. If you’re looking for an inexpensive, no-frills place to crash, this will do the trick. And knowing how ownership treated me, I would recommend it to anyone. I doubt I would’ve been helped out like I was had I stayed somewhere else. If I could give more than 5 stars I would!”

“My husband stayed at this hotel for a week since he is working out of town and not once did his room get serviced. He knows not to leave any personal belongings on top of the beds if he wants his bed done. He asked at the front desk if they could clean his room and bathroom and he was told they charged extra!!!!!! NEVER have I heard this nonsense of paying extra. They even had to switch him rooms because the shower head had no pressure. They won’t be seeing him or his working crew back next week.”

It's next to Carl's Jr., close to a gas station and felt safe. They had a basic selection (eggs, yogurt, waffles, fruit, toast, bagels, coffee, etc...) for breakfast that satisfied our needs. “This hotel is not really deserving of the Hilton name. It's ok if you expect a generic hotel with an average room and an inedible breakfast where every serving of egg appears burnt, the sausage patties all appear half browned and the potatoes are cold. Fortunately there is cereal and oatmeal. The sleeper couch in the studio room is very cheap and not comfortable as a bed. The TV is shockingly poorly installed with the cable box hanging by a rats nest of cabling behind it. There were no less than 4 light bulbs out in the room. Towels were hard and cheap. There are three positives: 1. Good water pressure in the shower. 2. It seems to be quite clean. 3. Location if you're visiting the caverns.”
