“I took my 5year old son to explore Trial Bay Goal, and we had such a wonderful time, and we learnt so much about the history. The video was a little long for him to watch, but you can walk around and learn throughout. We finished with going to the bay for a play in the sand, beautiful water and surroundings.”

Sydney Jewish Museum
4.7
( 8 reviews )
Closed until 10:00 AM

148 Darlinghurst Rd, Darlinghurst NSW 2010, Australia

“Sydney Jewish Museum is located in Darlinghurst near the CBD. Very few museums will hit you the way this way this museum hits you. A very informative museum about Jewish history, culture and about the holocaust. Holocaust was one of the darkest times for humanity and education about it is important to ensure such events never ever happen again. They had a new exhibition called “Reverberations” which uses artificial intelligence which has pre-recorded interviews of holocaust survivors to preserve their memories and is worth checking out. Definitely worth a visit if you are in Sydney.”

Roundhouse

Level 9/282 King St, Newcastle NSW 2300, Australia

“I booked this restaurant for my first wedding anniversary, and they actually asked me to provide details as we booked the $160 degustation menu. I told them the occasion and that my wife doesn't enjoy certain meats. I should have known the service was going to be poor when we were put at a table far from the magnificent view, despite there being free tables right near the window for hours. Our waiter was unshaven, unkempt and had bad breath. We asked for cocktails which took 50 mins to arrive and were overpriced and poorly made. There were six courses, and while the first few arrived quickly, and after they swapped the raw fish for my wife to prawn (when we told the waiter that we left details about my wife's dietary preferences, they said 'I haven't checked my notes'). We waited 2 hours for the final four courses, during which time we were starving. When we asked for some bread, we were served but charged almost $10. The kitchen would not substitute the lamb main for my wife, despite the food's lateness. All that we were offered for all the issues were a cheap glass of the house wine. Despite spending $400, and admittedly the food was largely delicious, I cannot recommend this restaurant. Maybe because of the lack of fine dining options in Newcastle they feel they can give poor quality service, but if this was Sydney they would be dead in the water. If you have a big event, avoid at all costs. Edit: Please do not be fooled by the generic response by the owner to my review: I posted this seven weeks after the event, not "several months." They obviously have the time sheets for the employees on for that night, so if they cared to follow things up that would be a good place to start!”

Brett Whiteley Studio
4.7
( 10 reviews )
Closed until 10:00 AM

2 Raper St, Surry Hills NSW 2010, Australia

“Yesterday we visited the Brett Whiteley Studio in Surry Hills, which is currently showing Chapters 1959–1969. It’s all works made by Whiteley between the ages of 20 and 30, during an intensive period of travel and artistic experimentation. What I liked about this gallery was the way it was arranged. For me the pieces that spoke loudest emanated from Whiteley’s time in Fiji, and a 1968 collage called New York 1. I found the bath nudes too abstract. It’s a multimedia gallery where you can see both a wide range of his art, plus the place where Brett created it, lined with quotes and images he found inspiring. In the small gift shop you’ll find the book that inspired our secret garden visit. Entry is free.”

Elizabeth Farm
4.4
( 16 reviews )
Closed until 10:00 AM

70 Alice St, Rosehill NSW 2142, Australia

“I've lived in Sydney all my life and wasn't even aware of this beautiful piece of history nestled away in Rose Hill. Admittedly I have driven around the area before and have seen the sign that simply states Elizabeth Farm but I was always on the way to or from some other engagement so never really thought about it. I was passing through the area again today, saw the sign, looked at the time and realised I had a free moment so I decided I should finally stop and have a sticky beak. Am I glad that I did! From the Museums of History NSW website: "Built in 1793 for the young military couple John and Elizabeth Macarthur and their growing family, Elizabeth Farm today is an ‘access all areas’ museum. There are no barriers, locked doors or delicate furnishings. Set within a re-created 1830s garden, Australia’s oldest homestead is now our most immersive house museum" It truly is an immersive museum and the only thing missing is the opportunity to hire period correct costumes so that you can wander around the premises and really live in the moment. I ended up staying and exploring for a good 45mins and probably would have stayed longer except I needed to be somewhere. Will definitely be making a return visit in the near future! 👍”

Scg And Allianz Stadium Tour

Closed until 09:00 AM

Gate A, Sydney Cricket Ground, Driver Ave, Moore Park NSW 2021, Australia

“We went for pink test day!! You wouldn't get a better day than this one. You will see a wave of people in pink colour. More importantly, a day to generate money for the McGrath foundation. The members' pavilion is an advantage as it is situated in between the players' dressing room :). You can see the players very closely. A test match between Pakistan vs. Australia was an absolute joy to watch. Both team playing their best, but the Australia team remain on top. The ground itself has history, and it gives you real pleasure to watch the game there. Kudos to all ground staff and management for keeping this place as one of the best places to watch cricket games. The lush green grass, a 40000 seating capacity, and plenty of food and drink option. It's a day to remember for a long time. Have fun all.”
