Mahesh Vilas Palace Shivgarh

Closed until 10:00 AM

G6RX+WH7, Main Road, Maharajganj Rd, near UCO Bank, Shivgarh, Uttar Pradesh 229308, India

“Raja Bharkandi Mahesh Pratap Singh built this palace in 1942. It is located in the Rai Bareilley district of Uttar Pradesh and is about 65 kms from Lucknow.. It is the palace home of the Maharaja of Shivgarh, though now parts of it are used as school for kids and another part as office for Community Empowerment Lab (CEL). The design is a replica of Lalgarh Fort, Bikaner. His family were Gaur Rajputs. Gaur was the ancient name for Bengal where Mahesh Pratap’s family were placed some centuries ago before they moved to Uttar Pradesh in search of more land. The palace has three sections - each one from a different era. The most recent section is in the front and is a beautiful white-washed palace where the king lives or visits sometimes with his family. This section hosts the CEL office as well as huge palatial rooms for guests as well. The second oldest part is right behind the main palace and houses the school. It is the most beautiful part of the palace but now old and also falling apart - there are multiple rooms locked and inaccessible to outsiders. The school is only a small part of it... and it is actually carved out of an old and rather huge ballroom. The oldest section is located at the far end and is almost inaccessible. It is used as a warehouse and is looks absolutely deserted.”

Krishna talkies road opposite to entrance of Colony Rajeev Gandhi Nagar, Railway Road, Farrukhabad, Uttar Pradesh 209625, India

“Pathetic cinema hall. You can see movie got stuck in middle without interval. Screen gets black out. First time in my history of all movies I've seen this. No power in the cinema hall. Pathetic management. Even the projector guy don't staying there, he is trying to manage all screens. Movie Adipurush Will never suggest anyone to go. They should refund money, because of bad experience they gave to all viewers.”

“Absolutely loved this place, perfectly located, in front of World's of wonder park. There are many options for arcade games. I loved the bowling station here, They got a lot of space for that, the prices are a bit high, but worth money. Good place to hangout with friends. They also serve food & drinks. Would definitely recommend my friends.”

“It was got constructed by the Mughal Emperor Shah Jahan as a part of his Summer Palace. Its walls and ceiling are inlaid with glass mosaic work, that flows in the dark and produces a surreal twinkling and glittering effect in the semi-dark interior of the palace. It is locked and inaccessible to the public as on date...”

Butler Palace
4.3
( 8 reviews )

VX35+GXP, Jankipuram, Butler Colony, Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh 226001, India

“Awesomazing!!! I loved the place so much, it was super spooky buy still. I wonder why the hell its prohibited to go there. Also, i saw a huge spectacled cobra there... It is also said that a female spirit is seen at night, which slides down the stairs and jumps into the nearby lake. The story attached to this place is very spooky, and you cannot ignore them as the paranormal spirits will make you realize their presence every time. The Butler Palace is a four-faceted palace with a stellar architecture and it is the only monument in Lucknow to be built in this way. Since, the palace was shut down in 2009, it has become a ruin. Wild flora everywhere! Wish i could go back in time and see its real beauty.”
