National Motorcycle Museum
4.8
( 8 reviews )

102 Chamber Dr, Anamosa, IA 52205, United States

“This museum is great! They also give military/Veterans a discount on the admission. The history and the motorcycles are amazing! I CAN NOT believe they're closing their doors in September. It's a shame this museum and the history are going to be auctioned off. I'm hoping someone with the cash can step up and save this place before it's gone. It's definitely worth a stop and seeing all the motorcycles and other history. See it before it's gone!”

Living History Farms

“Nice diversion today. Nice walk through farming history and a little something for everyone. We did not stay for the Oldies Ballgame but watched a bit. Easy walk and fun tractor ride back in time. Little ones will have fun but …”

American Gothic House Center
4.6
( 16 reviews )
Closed until 10:00 AM

300 American Gothic St, Eldon, IA 52554, United States

“Ok here comes the confession: I was looking for a spooky black goth house not realizing this is one of the most if not #1 paintings that has a huge cult parody following. Also very famous architecture. Once I figured it all out I was amazed and in awe that I was standing in front of the house where the famous picture was taken. Lots of history and photo opps. You can dress up for a fee and have your pic taken in front of the famous house, there are nature trails as well. There is a gift shop and a small area with more photos and history. The small area in the back of the gift shop is blocked by velvet ropes and there is a fee to get back there. *That's also where the *bathrooms are located and you have to pay the fee to use the restroom.* That was the only down side especially after our long drive. It's very beautiful there and lots of room to just roam around, get the kids and pets out of the car and have a really nice walk.”

Cedar Rapids Museum Of Art

( 8 reviews )
Closed until 10:00 AM

410 3rd Ave SE, Cedar Rapids, IA 52401, United States

“2002, the Museum was given the building that houses the original studio of Grant Wood. Located just three blocks from the Museum, the loft studio, known by its fictitious address of 5 Turner Alley, was designed and constructed by Wood, who lived and worked there between 1924 and 1935. It was here that he painted American Gothic (1930)—now part of the collection of the Art Institute of Chicago—and many of his most famous paintings. The Grant Wood Studio is open to the public for guided tours from 12:00 PM-4:00 PM on Saturdays and Sundays from April through December.”

The Quarter Barrel Arcade & Brewery
4.3
( 8 reviews ) $$

616 2nd Ave SE, Cedar Rapids, IA 52401, United States

“We had a great time here this evening! We are currently road tripping from Ohio and were looking for something that would be fun for us and also our five year old. Our daughter absolutely loved the arcade games, of course, and we all loved the food. We got a Bowser pizza and it had the perfect amount of spice. We also got the Princess Peach dessert pizza, which was very tasty. Between my husband and I, we tried three different QB beers and enjoyed all of them. Service was great! It wasn’t too crazy when we got there around 5, but was packed when we left. Our daughter asked if we could “plllllleeeeease” come back — and we certainly will if we are ever in Cedar Rapids again!”

Villisca Axe Murder House Inc.
4.3
( 10 reviews )
Closed until 11:00 AM

508 E 2nd St, Villisca, IA 50864, United States

“Fun to walk through, but especially after listening to a few podcasts about the the case. I highly suggest the Morbid episodes about it. It was a little odd to see the juxtaposition of more modern toys in the space that were left as offerings for the children, but mostly nice. Oh! And make sure to have cash!”

Big Grove Brewery & Taproom
4.4
( 8 reviews ) $$

555 17th St, Des Moines, IA 50309, United States

“Attempted the New Years Eve event for children. 'No idea how long the wait is'. Not enough of anything to go around - no tables, no candy, no toys. Dinner of soda, water, mints or popcorn. Couldnt find a waitress to order food to eat 'on our feet'. No seating available. Blood sugar got low and I was threatened for moving a coat over to sit on the edge of a chair. Alexi, owner, gave me his card, a mint, and offered me some fries (after threatened for sitting) but never gave them to me. Left, drove 4 blocks, spent $$$ elsewhere.”
