Friendly staff with smiles and good vibes. We went early and enjoyed opening hours with lots of sun and shade and a great time. Surely is crowded and bustling at night—recommend!”

“La Kalimana is a great place to chill with friends, and enjoy a drink on the weekend. The venue is a small size with indoor/outdoor seating the allows for comfortable seating. They serve some delicious food and drink mixes. I will highly recommend the fries with mushroom sauce. If you go on the weekend you are also likely to get some live music which, if I’m not mistaken, is brought in from CDMX. Be sure to stop by at happy-hour and get your 2-for-1 drinks. Cheers!”

“I was happy that I checked out this place. I went relatively early at around 9:30 PM, but already all the seats were taken and most of the tables are for reserved only. So I got a little seat upstairs. The live band comes on at 11 PM. As soon as the band came on, everybody started dancing. The crowd really shows up when the band starts playing. I went on a Friday evening, and it did get very crowded. The good news is that upstairs there is a little bit more space to breathe. People are friendly, and the staff is nice. For the serious Salsera or Salsero out there, I see a lot of Cuban style dancing. Dancers are mostly chill and are just there to have a good time. This club plays pure salsa only. There is no other Latin music such as Bachata’s or merengue. It’s just salsa. There is a cover to go in, and you’re expected to buy at least one drink. It’s pretty standard club practice. The bouncers also searched us with the bags, and our coats. But they did have a female security for us women. Overall, I had a great time. I left before midnight, which is very early on a Friday night. But I wanted to make sure that I could get an Uber home before everybody else goes homes. Plus it got a little too crowded for me to feel comfortable. This is a great spot in Mexico City. I do recommend it.”

“I have stayed at several Selina locations across Central America and had many enjoyable experiences there. However, this Selina was by far the worst. They double charged me $1,200 for a $600 booking (which I am still trying to resolve, because they completely ignored the help ticket I submitted through their website). I spoke with one of the staff several times to try to get the issue taken care of while I was staying there; he seemed generally very confused and basically tried to gaslight me into believing my booking cost double because it was a room for 2 people (when my booking confirmation clearly says People: 2, Rooms: 1, Total: $581.10). Also, this room that I paid $1,200 for was not even clean when I showed up at midnight on my check-in date, so I didn't get the room I paid for the first night. They told me they would refund me for that first night and they never did that either. Update as of 11/19: I was finally issued a refund 3 weeks after the overcharging incident, but it came without warning or explanation and it was $30 short. Selina is completely non-responsive and will not explain to me (A) the reason for the $30 difference and (B) why I am still being charged full price for the room I didn't even get to stay in that first night. Since I left Guadalajara I have stayed in San Jose, CR; Medellin; Bogota; Cusco; Lima; and Cartagena. All of those places have Selina locations, and I probably would have stayed at the Selinas in all of them if this issue had simply been resolved when I asked. Unfortunately, I no longer feel comfortable spending money at a business that's so wildly incompetent when it comes to addressing customer issues in a timely manner. Selina has easily lost $2,000+ worth of bookings from me in the months of October - November alone.”
