“I guess I just made a wrong choice. This vintage Japanese restaurant is famous for "sara-mori" which is a pork cutlet over rice with thick sauce. More than half of customers seemed to have ordered this one. I had a regular chicken udon which was quite ordinary (I mean I could make something like this at home) and nothing to write home about. Service was busy, with lots of pressure for prompt order, and not exactly friendly.”

“I love ramen. The ramen restaurant is called Kokorajitei. This is where you can eat ramen delicious. The clerk is very kind. The most delicious ramen here is grilled pork and soy sauce ramen. The price of this ramen is 850 yen. If you eat this you will like ramen. This can be enjoyed with anyone. Thanks for reading.”

“The Sudachi soba was quite a unique and refreshing taste, the slight tanginess of the Sudachi pairs surprisingly decent with the dashi. Service was decent, although it may be slightly slow as the shop seems understaffed at the moment. We were seated upstairs, where the surroundings were quiet, which allowed us to eat our meal in peace, which I appreciated. The atmosphere downstairs is more lively, so if you prefer a livelier atmosphere, try to find a seat downstairs.”

Fukusenro

Japan, 〒606-8275 Kyoto, Sakyo Ward, Kitashirakawa Kamibettocho, 1 第2青山荘1階4号

“Have been curious for a while now because there is typically a line or it’s fairly packed. Seats maybe 12 people, all counter seats. Typical of many ramen restaurants you pay at a vending machine. The items on the upper left are the most popular/recommended items or sets. Ordered the special (a few rows down on the vending machine), which is essentially their house ramen plus more chashu. First thing they ask is of you want garlic with it. Most people seem to go for the garlic. It’s not your run-in-mill ramen. Flavor of the meat is savory and marinated. The fresh garlic is strong. The soup was thick and not too salty. Overall I found it delicious, though the flavors were a bit too busy and complicated for my taste. I’d still recommend it, especially for those who’ve had one too many of the same flavor profile of ramen.”

Soba-shubo Tokubei

Japan, 〒600-8216 Kyoto, Shimogyo Ward, Higashishiokojicho, 901 京都駅ビル 東ゾーン 2F

“Came for team dinner around 630 pm and the place was quite busy. We booked so didn't have to wait, would suggest booking if you come. Order a mix of foods and all was average. Tempura was oily, yakitori was like it was frozen and only heated up. If in kyoto suggest keep looking as there are so many unique locations to visit.”

Yumewokatare Ramen Shop

48-1 Ichijoji Nishisuginomiyacho, Sakyo Ward, Kyoto, 606-8112, Japan

“I was confused as to whether I should buy the ticket first, but as I was lining up, a guy came out and guided me to the ticket machine (sorry...) It was also a very kind shop for those arriving by bicycle, with directions to the parking lot. As for the ramen, I feel like the volume of meat is a bit lacking compared to Jiro. Noodle soup was good”

Gion Bansan

( 8 reviews ) $$

Japan, 〒605-0085 Kyoto, Higashiyama Ward, Sueyoshicho, 95

“Although it is located in Gion, it is reasonably priced and casual. However, the inside of the store has a courtyard and has an atmosphere, and the private rooms are a good place to relax. I think it's easy to use when you have an important conversation with a private feeling. All the dishes are delicate, beautiful to look at, and delicious. It's not a particularly complicated dish, but even though I'm an amateur, I can really understand the feeling that good ingredients are used, and it's delicious. The store clerk is young and unpretentious, and the energetic atmosphere makes it easy to use without being nervous. I would like to use it again, thank you.”
