“The courtyard of this hotel is exceptionally beautiful, showcasing meticulous maintenance. The front desk staff speaks Chinese. The rooms are spacious and comfortable. The only downside is that the food is not very tasty; surprisingly, there was bacon and eggs for breakfast. Hoping to temporarily step away from Western cuisine and indulge in authentic Japanese dishes, we ended up with cold pasta sauce resembling Italian cuisine. The food was disappointing, but the hotel itself is lovely.”

“It's a very lovely hotel with the best location right next to Gora station although you need to take a low underpass. The whole hotel is quite spacious and tranquil. We were accommodated in a 6-people dorm room, which is spacious with a very clean and cozy bed. It's quite rare in Japan. The food is highly recommended and tasty at affordable price. We had breakfast and dinner at the hotel, and every time is impressive collection of delicate cuisine.”

“One of the best stays of my life. Everyone should experience a Ryokan in their life and this one takes the cake. Great staff and service is just a small part of it. A private Onsen overlooking lush green trees with a river flowing through is a view that stays with you. Luxury amenities that are totally worth the price. The chef was so amazing at accommodating all dietary restrictions. The dinner and breakfast (both Japanese style) were experiences of a lifetime. The staff was in constant communication with us well before our arrival. Highly recommended.”

“My husband and I stayed here for 2 nights and 3 days in July and enjoyed every minute. Every staff member we interacted with was incredibly kind, welcoming and accommodating. Our room was beautiful and the open air bath was relaxing. Our meals were delicious and the staff was very conscious of my husband's gluten and lactose intolerance and modified his dishes for him and ensured he knew that the dishes were safe for him to eat. I would gladly come back here in a heartbeat. I can only imagine how beautiful the scenery is in Autumn.”

“Stayed for a night in the middle of our two week trip in Japan and this was the perfect way to rest and recharge. Has a corner room 101, it was large and had an open bath which was lovely for cooling off after a hot bath. Makes it nice for taking pictures too. Bed is cosy and comfortable. Slept like a baby after a hot bath. Dinner and breakfast was elegantly and carefully prepared. Absolutely delicious and enjoyed every bit of it. Staff speaks enough English to communicate for non-Japanese speakers and everyone was really kind and attentive to our needs!”

“A gem find. Reasonable price in the area. Rooms are extremely clean with private onsen that is well maintained. Staff speak good English, and are very helpful. Highly recommend the included dinner and breakfast which are high quality, very tasty and in a traditional Japanese style. Hotel reception provides free drinks (juice,beer, bottled water) which was much appreciated. Location is also convenient as it is a short bus ride in the middle of the Hakone loop - 15-20 bus ride from gora and to togendai. Overall very satisfied with my experience. Would recommend if you’re doing a 2 day trip to Hakone.”

“While I enjoyed the experience, I do not think that the service was proportional to the price at least from a foreigner’s standpoint. Maybe the intended audience is a older generation gauging from the attitude of the hotel workers. They did try their best to translate and explain menu items but that was about it. It felt very cold and transactional. Traveling as a couple, we were carrying large backpacks and we had to carry it ourselves up and down the driveway from the bus stop. After our sit down check in and long travel to get to the place, we were not offered the option to have them deliver our bags to the room as we saw other guests were given. We were given chocolate gifts as we left. We booked a 3rd floor room with in room onsen bath. Room and amenities were great. One of the robes had a make up stain inside.”

“We stayed for one night. The room was very old fashioned, bathroom was very old and needed renovation (but not that bad). The private onsen was and they served us a lot of food which looked very nice, but the taste is tough for who is not used to Japanese traditional food. We couldn't eat much… We asked for changes but they didn’t accept to do. The waitress and room service were amazing, lovely, polite and very friendly. That is why i gave the hotel 3 stars, but i think generally it is a low value for money!!!”

There are fewer rooms, fewer people, it's not noisy, and I think the service is attentive. It's a little expensive, but I think it's more than worth it.”

“Very old and outdated. The location is great, but the hotel looks like it hasn’t been touched since the 80’s, especially the rooms. Some examples are the bathroom sink yellow and peeling, the bidet has gone brown, the onsen area had mould and mildew all around it, furniture is chipping and peeling. Everything needs a refresh. I’m sure the hotel looked very grand originally. On a positive, the grounds are well kept, the staff were lovely, and the food was good.”

“Quiet tattoo friendly onsen located near Tanzawa Lake. Situated about an hour from Yokosuka, Yokohama, and Tokyo on the Tanzawa Mountain. We came here because this onsen is 2 - 3 minutes away from our campsite, that we stayed at the night prior. Decent size, the water does not have as strong as a smell compared to most other onsen. However the male onsen did have massage sprayers in the indoor bath. The outside scenery adds to the unique theme.”

“I stayed at Aura Tachibana in Hakone for an overnightstay with my wife, and we had a wonderful time. The hotel is located on a hilltop, offering a stunning view of the mountains and the town. The room was spacious and comfortable, with a balcony and a private open-air bath, The bath was filled with natural hot spring water which was soothing and relaxing. We enjoyed soaking in the bath. The food was also amazing. The hotels Japanese restaurant offered a kaiseki multi-course meal with local and seasonal dishes. They were very accommodating to my wife's dietary preferences, and prepared vegetarian dishes for her, our hostess also spoke great English. The dishes were beautifully presented and delicious, using fresh ingredients. The staff was very friendly and helpful, and they spokegood English. They provided a free shuttle service to and from Hakone Yumoto Station, which was convenient. We had a memorable stay at Aura Tachibana, and we highly recommend it to anyone looking for a relaxing and luxurious getaway in Hakone. It was worth every dollar, and we would love to come back again.”
