Miyanooku-25番地 Hiedanocho Kakihana, Kameoka, Kyoto 621-0036, Japan

“Spent a night at this onsen resort near Kyoto and although it wasn’t the best I’ve ever stayed but I would say there are many great elements about it. As soon as you stepped right into the hotel premises, you will be greeted by a beautiful garden, followed by a modern lobby / reception that has large window walls to connect with the outdoor garden. I been told many of the rooms have been renovated but the one I stayed wasn’t. Regardless, the room I stayed was still beautiful with its traditional ambiance. It had mountain views and I can see the tree leaves started to change colors. My room also got a little outdoor onsen tub; the pros was definitely the convenience and total privacy but the cons was that the resort located right next to a major expressway, can hear noises of rolling tires constantly while soaking in the private hot spring tub. The resort’s Japanese restaurant was located on the lowest level. It had a very modern, chill aura. And each table was designed to have its own total privacy. Dinner was fabulous with many flavorable dishes. The only complaint I have was the wage beef. First of all, it was extremely fatty. Secondly, it might be the airflow, my beef just wasn’t grilling, unlike my friend who got crispy steaks, mine were barely cooked, looked dull and tasted extremely oily. Breakfast was equally great and I love the steamed tofu. It was so soft and silky. In short, the food quality of this hotel was outstanding but as mentioned before, it was right next to an major road. Once you stepped outside, can hear the tire noises right away.”

“Travelled with 2x small children and loved our stay here. The rooms are a good size and comfortable, staff are friendly and accommodating, extra towels/pillows are provided if requested. The public baths were so nice and we really enjoyed the buffet breakfast which had a great variety of food to choose from. The location is also fantastic, just across from an impressive temple and easy walking distance to Kyoto Station.”

“The room we were assigned had a faulty window which didn't seal properly and meant the air whistled in all day and night. Complained and maintenance agreed that this was a fault but said the hotel was full and all other available rooms we checked had the same fault. Therefore we both slept wearing noise cancelling headphones. The air vents by the window also suck a stream of constant cold air in. We were told we would be contacted about moving for our second night and/or be given a refund for our inconvenience. Neither happened. It's sad that this hotel has a known building fault and that customer service is poor as it is a decent compact, clean hotel otherwise. Breakfast has variety, the hot bath is nice after a day sightseeing and it's fairly convenient to a train station - though a few stops from the central area. However if you value sleeping in a warm and peaceful environment - avoid. The lack of sleep spoiled our trip.”

“One of the best ryokan while my wife and I stayed in Japan. The room that we stayed is not huge but the size is good enough for 2 people. Our room came with indoor onsen so we don't need to go outside the room to enjoy. Upon entering our room, we were offered a matcha and some snack. Kaiseki dinner is served in our room and breakfast in the dining hall. Food is extremely delicious with a great presentation. They even make some midnight snacks for us. The dinner menu written in Japanese is an art by itself. Location is great as it is near the famous Togetsu-kyo Bridge 渡月橋. The great hospitality really made our stay enjoyable, delightful and unforgettable”

“Hotel room was ok, with a nice garden and outdoor private onsen. However, the private onsen was terrible. It must have been the smallest we have been to. Just enough for 1 pax. And the worst part is that the water is not always hot. Initially we thought it was just because the temperature was not adjusted and we requested for it to be adjusted higher, which the hotel staff were not very willing to but eventually obliged. Subsequently we realised it was just the timing. Hot onsen water stopped flowing at some times. Several times we tried (some in the evenings and some in morning and the water was just cold and not suitable for outdoor onsen in winter time. We suspect it is just cost savings?!?! It is just unacceptable that they charge a premium for the private onsen but eventually could not be used half the time and we still had to go to the public bath. Must be the worst onsen experience we had. To be fair, the saving grace was perhaps the food, which was pretty good and in generous portions, but being an onsen hotel, shouldn’t the selling point be the onsen?”

“Landmark hotel in the Hatchohama area, located steps away from the beach. Feels newly renovated with sophisticated Japanese-style rooms with tatami and futon. I visited during the low season and was offered a lovely room with balcony facing the sea. Hotel was peaceful and quiet as one might expect from Japanese accommodations. Onsen is open until 24:00 which is convenient. I opted for a room without food bundle, but next time I would include food as I was told the chef was trained in a reputable ryotei in Kyoto City. Room charge was コスパがいい, and I would stay here again on subsequent visits.”

“The boss was very enthusiastic and nice. Because we didn’t have dinner on the first night, he upgraded us to sukiyaki on the second day. The environment was very clean and tidy. There was no outdoor hot spring, but it didn’t affect this perfect trip. Thank you to the owner.”

“One of the best hotels I stayed at during my visit in Japan! The Candeo Hotel is simple my magic and I loved every minute of my stay there. I rate this hotel highly purely for its cleanliness and the overall hospitality of the staff! The hotel is very well located in the heart of Kyoto (lots of restaurants around) but situated on quiet street. The Spa and the room was divine with various accessories available (soaps, body milk, brush, pajamas, slippers, etc.). The rooms was small but it is well designed and decorated with a beautiful open view. Frankly, I could have spent many more nights at this hotel and it was worth every penny!!!”

“It was a convenient location right next to the Fukuchiyama interchange. There is a convenience store in front of you, which is convenient for shopping. The building feels old, but it is large, spacious and beautiful. The hot spring facility was very good. Especially the open-air bath and the sauna were big and spacious and comfortable. Breakfast was a Japanese set meal, not a buffet, due to the influence of the coronavirus. Although it is Japanese food, it was good to be able to drink coffee after meals. Despite being a hotel with a good hot spring, it was very vacant. I think it's a recommended little-known hotel.”

“stayed there for 4 nights! Very Terrible staffing! The worst hotel experience ever in Japan! 1- I confirmed the breakfast timing during the check in. But when I went to take breakfast, I was told that it was not booked my breakfast according to their planning. and the worst thing was that the they was doubting you. 2- terrible communication/english: always needs to wait when you request something. The procedure like: you make a quest, then you will be told to wait, then a new guy will come to you, and you repeat your request! 3- You need to comply: you need to be very transparent to them, need to tell them when you are leaving when you are arrive each day! You need to drop your car keys and room key you are out or in. They will ask in the very first place the time you leave when you arrive whatever you are in the middle of what! I am in the holidays and my plan is just to take my time. I dont feel very comfortable about that. 4- when checked out, they offered a coupon but I declined but they insisted again and again until you accepted. I feel like that they would let me go unless I accept. 5- one more last thing, the room we booked does own an open windows which is not in the room description!!!!”

“The bath and the landlady's response were good. The TV doesn't turn on, and the hot water in the washroom doesn't come out (it says that it takes time to get out because it's a boiler, so I waited while soaking in the hot water, but in the end it was a little warm water). The atmosphere is good and the location is very close to Amanohashidate. Those who stay will be happy if there are improvements such as changing the futon to a plump one.”
