“The hotel environment is elegant and quiet, and the staff's service attitude is very good. The indoor men's bath on the first floor is spacious and well-equipped. The outdoor men's bath on the fourth floor is slightly smaller and can only accommodate less than ten people.”

“We spent 2 nights here and maybe could have stayed a bit longer. As the hot springs were great. There are 3 hot springs available, one only for woman. And two hot springs which are everyday changed between a woman and a man hot spring. Obviously, I can't say too much about the woman only place, but as I had the chance to visit the two alternating spas - both were good, whereby may favorite was the larger one. Not necessarily due the size, but it's location in a park-like surroundings, with many trees and corners inviting you to take a break from the baths, sauna and the time passed quickly. We also enjoyed a classical Kaiseki Dinner. which was nicely presented and tasted great. The service was nice, a bit fast in the beginning, but they slowed down, when we asked. Regretfully they only offer this type of dinner in the evening, in 2 variations. But there are a few small, simple places around. The breakfast buffet again is nice. We started the day at 5 ~ 6 am in the hot spring, then went for breakfast. A great way to start the day. The hotel is located in a lovely area, which invites to walk around, along the river, where many birds can be watched.”

3 Chome-15-3 Kurosaki, Yahatanishi Ward, Kitakyushu, Fukuoka 806-0021, Japan

“I stay here when I visit my doctor in Kitakyushu. Clean and small hotel lobby, very typical of a Japanese business hotel. Breakfast was pretty good for the price offering both Japanese and western dishes available in buffet. The staff have been really helpful although I’ve seen them struggle when trying to help non-Japanese speakers. It appears to me that they try their best! The non-smoking rooms I have stayed in were outdated and very small. I had to turn the A/C on the headboard of the bed. I appreciate that air purifier is set in every room but the rooms and bathrooms are super tiny (or cozy?). They only clean every other day but leave clean towels on the door every day which I didn't mind. You can always request additional cleaning. Amenities like toothbrush, brush, wash cloth, razor, tea bags were available in the lobby. Cold/Hot tea and coffee were also available for free. I have a disabling condition so a convenient location is a must! Super easy access from the airport was a must for me. Direct bus from Kitakyushu AP (has direct flights from Tokyo). 2 trains from Fukuoka AP but a bit far without express train from Hakata station. I love that Starbucks and Tully’s are super close which is a big plus for coffee drinkers. Although the rooms can definitely use some improvements, for the convenience of the location and the friendly staff, I keep using this hotel. If you like 大浴場(daiyokujou- an onsen style big bathtub), you might enjoy that. If you like more modern and updated rooms, I would recommend trying other hotels.”

Kamenoi Hotel Genkainada

2829 Arige, Wakamatsu Ward, Kitakyushu, Fukuoka 808-0123, Japan

“Made my trip perfect. Great service, a wide traditional room, a spa with stunning view and a way better breakfast than I expected. Additionally I would recommend you book Japanese hotels by booking site at the latest time unless high season. Japanese hotels are quite expensive and charge fees per person”

1056-30 Kozaki, Fukuchi, Tagawa District, Fukuoka 822-1202, Japan

“It was my first time visiting. Low temperature sauna. high temperature sauna I managed to get into the low-temperature sauna, but the high-temperature sauna... The old men were stuffed with sushi and didn't feel like going in so they gave up. It's a little narrow. There was also an event bath, which was good.”

203-1 Hakishiwa, Asakura, Fukuoka 838-1521, Japan

“The hotel is on the hill and gives great landscapes. Equipped with two different spas, both were quite good. We had a lunch and I had asked for a vegan meal, which they said they were not very used to serve, but the dishes were all fantastic. Unfortunately (for the hotel) there were not many guests and they didn't seem to have enough staff to keep everything perfect in the huge hotel, but anyway the quality of the service was better than that of similar hotels.”

1099-10 Ukihamachi Furukawa, Ukiha, Fukuoka 839-1405, Japan

“The outdoor bath is small but looks out to the Chikugo River. To view the river from the female outdoor bath, one has to stand up and look over the wall. For the outdoor male bath the river view is unobstructed as there is no wall blocking it. The indoor bath is spacious and has large picture windows. There are no lockers but the front desk assisted to keep our variables. Baskets are available in the changing area together with toiletries and hair dryers.”

“As I went to Harazuru Onsen, I took a bath at Enmeikan. One can use their facility without overnighting. The entrance is about $6. For a locker, another $1 is required. Nothing is luxurious, but the quality of water, which contains sulfur, is quite good. The temperature is not high, so you can stay for a long time.”
