Fort Wetherill State Park
4.7
( 16 reviews )

3 Fort Wetherill Rd, Jamestown, RI 02835, United States

“This place is so beautiful. Love the cliffs by the water. Theres a whole bunch of little trails and such and hidden forts/bunkers. The ocean view is an added bonus. Its free, you have to cross the Jamestown bridge to get there, its also right not to Beavertail as well which is a added 8 minute drive bonus. Good spot also to scube, difficult to paddle and kayak here due to the currents. There are some nice fishing spots in this area as well 🙂”

Rose Garden
4.8
( 8 reviews )
Closed until 06:00 AM

301 Pogue St, Raleigh, NC 27607, United States

“A wonderful place to escape and literally "stop and smell the roses". It is so peaceful and a great chance to explore. I had no idea that roses had sweet, fruity, smells! Very relaxing place to be. I deducted a start because not all of the roses have name plates so I wouldn't be able to know what which are, and the pond in the middle was a bit disheveled and not enough water for the fish. Other than that, we had a wonderful time and made sweet memories.”

Bushnell Park Conservancy
4.7
( 10 reviews )
Open until 11:59 PM

99 Trinity St, Hartford, CT 06123, United States

“One of the oldest public municipal parks in the US, it's located in the heart of the city. There's limited roadside parking, and we had to cross the street to get to it. The water in the moat is full of algae, and the fountains are doing a good job of keeping it as clean as possible. There are benches for people to sit and take on the view. There were sparrows taking mud baths, which was very cute to watch as there's water right next to them. But there's a purpose to it. There were a few shady characters and a couple of guys who were riding their scooters inside the park very loudly. Was not sure how it was permitted in the park. Never seen a motorized vehicle in any park before.”

Kohanaiki Beach Park
4.7
( 8 reviews )

PX23+72, Kailua-Kona, HI 96740, United States

“A private feeling beach near a resort. You'll pass through the first part of the resort but there's no need to go through any gate or speak to any attendant. Just follow the signs. When you come down the access road the left side is more sandy and for swimming and the right side is more rocky and reef. I visited the right side. You can take your car down the dirt and gravel road to park right alongside the beach. It was fine for me to do in my two-wheel drive vehicle. I was able to park maybe a quarter mile down in some shade. There are some trees and it's a nice place to hammock. There are a few porta pots along the beach access dirt road. I saw at least four whales in an hour. It's very quiet and feels secluded, save the occasional departing flight.”

African Burial Ground National Monument

“Beautiful monument dedicated to the culture of the Africans who came to the New World. There's a nice exhbit on the building next to the monument itself facing Broadway. The rangers are very nice too. They let us in even though they were closing in 5 minutes. Free entrance”

Blue Shutters Beach

( 10 reviews )
Closed until 08:00 AM

469 E Beach Rd, Charlestown, RI 02813, United States

“Wow! Just wow! I discovered this beach for the first time today and I’m in awe! The water was sparkling green blue and I was tempted to dive in despite it being 52degrees. I walked the expansive beach which is an excellent place to exercise which is what I came to do. The parking was easy, of course it’s off season, but it is a quintessential New England beach parking situation. I imagine you’d need to come early in the summer to get a parking spot. The beach is clean though I did do trash pickup for pieces of plastic that the tide had brought in. The beach is quite long and there is plenty of space to enjoy yourself. I felt like it’s an excellent place to come to relax and have a picnic. Overall, it’s great beach vibes, natural beauty and teaming with wildlife. I’m looking forward to many fun days here in the future!”

Grand Isle State Park
4.6
( 16 reviews )

36 E Shore S, Grand Isle, VT 05458, United States

“We camped for a week and had a lot of fun. Unfortunately, the beach at the park was closed for a couple of the days we were there but we were able to take the 5 minute drive to Knights Point Beach and got in free because we had paid for the camp site for the week and that allows you to get into any state park for free. We had fires and enjoyed a calm week camping. Highly recommend, we made memories we can cherish forever. 💟”

Rehoboth Beach
4.8
( 16 reviews )

311 N Boardwalk, Rehoboth Beach, DE 19971, United States

“This beach is absolutely beautiful. We visited in March so it was still winter. The beach was pretty empty except for the shells which I enjoyed seeking. The area was unusually clean. There was a nice wooden boardwalk that runs parallel to the beach. It was extremely busy with walkers, human and fur baby alike. We parked in a marked space at the entrance to the public beach access. I am not sure what parking potential is in summer, but in winter it was quiet easy. This beach is definately worth the trip.”

Southeast Regional Library
4.6
( 8 reviews )
Closed until 10:00 AM

775 N Greenfield Rd, Gilbert, AZ 85234, United States

“My family and I love this library and have been coming here for years. The combination of taking a walk around the riparian preserve located here, getting out into nature, and then being able to step inside and exercise our brains is a potent combination. The librarians are incredibly helpful in resolving issues and I am grateful for the work they do. Checking out books is an excellent forcing function to have an excuse to return them, get in another walk, and repeat the process. We’ve come after dark before and been able to view distant galaxies through the telescope that resides here as well.”

Alameda County Community Food Bank
4.8
( 16 reviews )

7900 Edgewater Dr, Oakland, CA 94621, United States

“I came here as a volunteer and sign up was seamless. I went to their site online and chose the time that fits my schedule. I volunteered for the morning session but you can do both to include the afternoon. You must make a reservation to volunteer ahead of time as they do not accept drop ins. There are several ways you can volunteer, I chose the produce sorting. If it's your first time here, you will need to arrive 15 minutes early and spend about 10-15 minutes for their new volunteer orientation. There is a 15 minutes break between 8:30am - 12pm morning shift. The last 30 minutes of your shift will consist of cleanup for the next volunteers. You will be assigned a lead volunteer to get you familiarize with your task and I must say, they were amazing. I would also like to say that the whole staff here were fantastic and extremely very helpful. I would highly recommend them if you're looking to give back to the community. Cheers!”

If you only want to swim for an hour or so, you can come halfway through open swim and there is no wait. Lifeguards were great! Front desk staff great! Snacks and towels and goggles available for purchase. Fun day!”

Mr. Trash Wheel

“Quirky and functional. Serves a great purpose, and has a attractive appearance. I'm not sure if it's primarily an art piece or passive trash collector, but a great addition regardless.”

Julia Yates Semmes Library
4.7
( 8 reviews )
Closed until 10:00 AM

15060 Judson Rd, San Antonio, TX 78247, United States

“Shockingly Beautiful Library! This library has the most amenities of any I've visited - a quiet room, rows of computers in several places for adults and kids, various study and reading areas, expansive windows with serene views of the landscaping that wraps around the parameter, a shaded walking trail, and a large covered playground (even the swings)! Attention to detail is everywhere and it was a treat to explore it. After adding in friendly and knowledgeable staff, the Semmes Library had zero competition as my favorite!!! I found myself wanting to sit in peace and stare outside, daydreaming!”
