“This is a very nice tucked away Italian find. I must say I haven't had a good Italian for a while and this place was nice. We rang beforehand to book a table, got in just for 5:15pm. We didn't realise until we got in that this was the start time for the Pizza and Pasta Happy Hour. (Sunday- Thursday) This was great for us and they had just what we wanted on the menu. We wanted to have pasta and pizza so we ordered two pasta meals and one pizza and it was lovely. The pasta was fine for me but just a tad spicer that what I thought it would be. The pizza too had too much cheese for my liking but was still gorgeous and homemade. Staff were kind, polite and accomodating.”

“I felt like we left London and flew to Italy. The food was absolutely divine, fresh and full of flavour. Everything was cooked to perfection. The red wine Chianti san Lorenzo was fruity and just the right balance, didn’t find it dry at all. The staff were so lovely, attentive and friendly. It’s a family owned restaurant, the owner even took the time to come over, speak with us and we had a good laugh. It’s a great place for an intimate setting with a small group of family and friends. I’m so glad I stumbled across the reviews online and booked this place before our theatre booking. It’s a must visit and I promise you this, once you’ve been here you will definitely be back again, like us.”

“We popped in without a booking on a Sunday night after a long drive and were met with such fantastic service. Our waiter Blair was soo friendly, made some great recommendations and made us laugh a lot! The frito misto was a great starter, huge fresh bits of fresh and a delicious garlic and parsley sauce. We also ordered the asparagus with pancetta which was so nicely done with another great sauce. The fresh pasta dishes were phenomenal! Between our table we ordered the slow cooked beef and tuscan sausage ragu which had so much tender meat and a delicious rich sauce, the rigatoni sinatra (crumbled italian sausages with loads of roasted peppers and chilli in a tomato sauce) and the fettuccine pollo piccante which was my favourite. This was spicy chicken in a creamy parmesan sauce with a right kick of chilli! For a complete accidental find we had such a great meal and would definitely come back if we were travelling down to Glasgow from the Highlands again!”

“We went to the Griffin Inn for a wedding reception. Wow what a fantastic place the reception room was beautiful and the weather was nice so we also used the outdoor area which was well kept with tables and lawns and nice views. The staff were amazing so polite and helpful. The food was first class and drinks reasonably priced. We cannot recommend the Griffin enough. It deserves 6 ⭐”

“I booked a table for 16 for my daughter’s birthday party and asked specifically about wheelchair access for a member of our party. I was assured they could accommodate us. However, there is no way of accessing the restaurant in a wheelchair. I emailed the manager to discuss this with them before leaving a review, to give them the opportunity to consider what my friend had to go through to be seated. They did not reply to me, therefore I’m leaving this review. The food was nice, not exceptional, but it should be clear on the website that the only way in to the restaurant is by steps and clearly staff need educating.”

“My wife and I went here for a pasta making masterclass and it exceeded our expectations. Our host / teacher was Chris and he was great - incredibly knowledgeable but fun with it. Quality of ingredients and equipment was great and you really don't need too much skill or effort to make something delicious. Whilst making the pasta we were given some great homemade garlic bread and some Italian snacks and drinks which were really nice. Once we'd made our pasta the restaurant chefs cooked it with sauces to match. Far too much food to finish but they they only cooked us what we wanted to eat and the rest was boxed up (both cooked with sauce and raw) the remainder for us to take home. Would thoroughly recommend, very reasonable prices and a really high quality product and experience 👌”

“Every time we go for food here, they manage to surprise us with best food. Can't recommend one starter because all amazing. The one we like are calamari fritti. Crunchy and very tasty. Main course variety is surprising. Definitely recommend the pasta and the best thing the garlic prawns. One thing can fault at the prawns dish, not enough bread to enjoy the sos. We asked for extra bred because it was such a shame to waste that amazing sos. Well done Zaza. We will recommend and definitely will be coming back everytime we get a chance. “I’m not even sure the word “wonderful” would do Akoko any justice. My wife and I visited for our anniversary dinner and to say it surpassed expectations would be an understatement. We are a young couple and often feel slightly out of place in more high end eating establishments. But the staff at Akoko made us feel welcome from the moment we arrived. While the restaurant is incredibly well known and high end, it seems as though they have cultivated an environment conducive to making guests feel at home no matter who they are. The space is gorgeous. Everything is aesthetically pleasing and unique. The food was unforgettable. Each dish was unlike anything I’ve had before. Once I would taste a bite and proclaim it to be my favorite of menu, another would be served and unseat the bite beforehand as the front runner. It was an experience to say the least. The whole meal was about four hours so it is a little bit intense. But none of the time is spent in boredom. Only in anticipation for the next wonderful flavor to hit your tongue.”

“My partner and I had this restaurant on our lists for a while, but sadly (and surprisingly), we left disappointed. The inside of Pentolina is charming, and the staff were friendly. But the food was lacking in flavour. Firstly, I had the fennel salad — this was refreshing and delicate, but felt underwhelming and unseasoned, accompanied by a few small pieces of orange and finely sliced beetroot. I thought perhaps it was just my starter selection! But then came my roasted butternut squash pasta. Unfortunately, apart from the sweetness of the squash, my pasta was also lacking in flavour. We skipped dessert. Our bill for 2 courses (excluding drinks) came to £70+.”
