Grimey's New & Preloved Music

1060 E Trinity Ln, Nashville, TN 37216, United States

“Grimey’s is a Nashville staple for locals and tourists alike. Here you will find a delightful variety of records, friendly staff, and even surprise concerts. I popped into Grimey’s as one of my first stops of exploration. Lucky for me, an artist named Lindsay Lou was playing for an album release. I stayed for the show, perused the vinyl, and wound up buying my first record! The start of a new collection. Vinyl is making a comeback, because it offers an opportunity to own the music. To have a tangible piece of it, not some ethereal slippery digital copy. Buying vinyl also greatly benefits music artists. Grimey’s and other wonderful stores like it are a blessing.”

“Took my wife to Southern Collective Spirit Company to do a tour and tasting for her birthday. We knew they didn’t distill in house so we weren’t exactly sure what to expect. We had the best time learning and chatting with Chris while he showed us around. We got to sample straight from the barrel and had the option to bottle our custom bottle from a barrel that we liked best. They made us feel as we were at a friend’s house having a drink. Lots of laughter and bonding over our love of bourbons. If you haven’t checked these guys out you need to make your way over to them. To the Marine we chatted with; I hope you get the promotion soon so you can crack that bottle open.”

Third Coast Comedy Club

“Be warned: it advertises as family friendly, but there are F bombs and other curse words often, and sexual situations are not off the table for topics. There was a dad who decided to take his middle school aged kid out halfway through. If you’re looking for good clean humor, this 7 PM show every Friday isn’t for you. It’s not to a hyper-raunchy degree: in fact, it was refreshing compared to a few other shows we’ve been at at other places that were just extremely uncomfortable. But it’s definitely not family friendly. We did enjoy our visit to Third Coast Comedy Club! We came for the 7 PM group Improv show. A side note: my wife got sick when we were supposed to go a month ago, and the staff was super helpful. While they don’t offer refunds, they kept our tickets “on hold” for us until I called in a few hours before and set our show for tonight. It was easy and quick. Traffic is crazy to get out there, but that’s Nashville. While parking is a bit much, especially because something crazy was happening nearby that night that brought 100s of teenage girls to see something ($2.50 an hour for the lots nearby), we got our way in. The club is in a renovated motorcar factory with tons of booths and shops inside along with the old factory equipment. It’s a fun atmosphere in the building. The bar is classy and a nice hangout area. The club itself is a bit cramped. We almost left because they asked us to split up since there’s no standing allowed during the show. Unless you reserve a table, the seats go fast. We did finally convince our guy to move a chair to get ourselves a spot to sit next to each other, which technically wasn’t “allowed” but we made it work. Long story short: be sure to get there very early. The show itself is SO fun. It’s in three parts: an hour short-skit section, a 10 minute intermission followed by a twenty-minute long form improv, then a brief standup section. The performers, who are mostly drama students at Vanderbilt if I’m not mistaken, are so fun. The light guy and piano guy have tons of fun adding cues and moments to the show. The audience was on fire tonight, with lots of great suggestions and input. There were several short skits where audience members had really fun roles, like a couple who got to see an “average day” played out after describing themselves. The performers do break character and crack up a lot, but it’s fun because you feel like “We’re all in this whacky thing together.” We’d definitely come back to Third Coast for another show! Overall: get there early, don’t bring your kids, and have a blast!”

“A small venue that knows how to focus on the stage and let everything just melt away. Really enjoy both Vincent Lima and Darren Kiely. Spotify them if you haven't heard of them.”
