“This was my fourth adoption of a four legged friend, first time at the ANNA shelter and also my first cat. Staff was friendly, attentive and answered all of my questions. I had already looked at their website and had all my paperwork in hand and ready to go. I came in to look at a female calico cat and ended up leaving with an orange and white male. Over the years of adopting I’ve come to realize that sometimes you get to pick, sometimes you don’t and sometimes they pick you-which is what I’d like to think Hubert ( formerly known as Cuppie) did. It’s been about 2 weeks and he’s settled in nicely and showing his calm but quirky personality. Thanks for a great experience!”

“Having a Kids Birthday party!? I highly recommend last chance ranch! We recently had my 4year olds birthday at the ranch and she couldn’t have been happier. The gathering space was perfect. Plenty of space, clean and I recommend decorating the horse shoe. The best part is clearly the animals- an up close look at barn yard friends can’t be beat. “very nice cat cafe! lots of adorable friendly cats who are well taken care of by the employees and volunteers. staff was very informative and helpful. my s.o. and i are looking to adopt from here. they don’t do same day adoptions, instead they do a thorough background check to make sure adopters are fit for adoption. they helped us decide which cat to adopt based on their personalities, very helpful. all cats are spayed/neutered and up to date on shots too!”

“The person that reviews the information for cat adoption is very condescending. Treated me as if I was a liar on my cat adoption application. I understand being cautious. However, I have rescued cats my whole life and have a great relationship with our cats vet. The tragic part is a homeless cat sat in a cage alone while the person reviewing the application played games. At least call and tell me I wasn’t accepted. Maybe she was scared to because she had no reason to deny me. Except for the fact she didn’t like me. I can’t help but conclude it’s because I have a TBI and she didn’t find my answers fluent enough. Which is prejudice. The tragedy is for the cat! When I first met the cat the lady assisting my daughter and I even complimented us on our interaction with the cat. She genuinely liked how the cat interacted with us. Sadly prejudice against different types of people runs rampant.”

“I came here with my mother to look at adoptable dogs. The setting was large and as clean and open as can be expected from a charity doing its best. The site was broken down by size of dogs and by dogs and cats. The were large both indoor and outdoor pens to meet the potential pets. They had separate small buildings where you could meet your next friend. In order to meet a new friend, you first must fill out an application and meet a volunteer. With the dogs, they were firm about wanting people who would be active and walk the dogs frequently and exercise them regularly. They were knowledgeable about the dog breeds and seemed to have good information about where the animals came from. We did not about in this visit. This organization is highly recommended.”

“I emailed the facility prior to visiting an available dog to see if she might fit our family, which includes young children. I was encouraged by the response and visited the facility with my family the same afternoon. I tried to make an appointment as well, but was told the dogs are FCFS. We still drove almost an hour to get there with our young children. Then we waited 40 minutes in the lobby. Finally, a lady/ handler brought out the dog we had requested to meet to the lobby. We were told to sit in our seats and not move unless approached by the dog. We knew the dog was shy to begin with, and she was not interested in approaching. She just wanted to be petted by the handler. I took that as a good sign-she could form strong bonds with others. When I handed our young son to my husband, he started crying and the handler immediately declared the meeting over because she felt it was “too much” for the dog. While I respect the handlers position, we were given less than 10 minutes in a highly awkward and less than ideal environment to bond with a shy animal. I definitely felt short changed and will not be visiting again. We are a good family with a lot to offer a dog in need, but we did not feel that we were even considered after making considerable effort to have a “meet.””
