“This vet has been OK for years. This year has been below poor. Extremely difficult to get a quote for dental work initially, it took weeks of back and forth. Vac4Life. I’ve tried to book my pet in for his annual boosters (all paid for when he was a pup). I’ve been told I can only book him in if I give a £20 deposit on the appointment and they’ll refund me in a months time at the appointment. We’ve never missed an appointment in 7 years, fine the people that don’t turn up, black list them, but we will not accept a blanket £20 down payment for other people’s tardiness or absenteeism, particularly when we paid for the annual vaccinations 7 years ago. My pet has Vac4Life which was transferable when purchased, now it’s not. So they try to tie you to them, knowing it’s going to cost you money to move to another practice. I’m still waiting for a call back from last week. Shaded them today, manager is off.”

“Now formally complained to RCVS I first encountered the above veterinary company ……28th June 2022 My foster cat had been with me a couple of weeks when he was hit by a car during the night. I took Hunter to my nearest vet in Westerhope (blythman and partners) I had to hand him over in the street as vets still weren’t allowing access post lockdown. I immediately paid for an x ray £300 on the street again and the only paperwork was my receipt from the card reader. The result of the X-ray showed that the nerves in both his back legs had been severed. I assumed that this lovely creature who’d been in my care temporarily would be euthanised. The vet told me they would transfer him to their animal hospital in Gosforth whereupon and unbeknown to me he was given further multiple X-rays (the results of which were never shared with me). They called me a day or two later and said they were putting him to sleep. I immediately went to say goodbye to him and was taken to a room full of empty cages and I saw Hunter lying in one of them with no blanket just a hard metal surface. He was completely spaced out and could not focus but I know he recognised my voice and lay his head on my arm where I tried to talk to him and reassure him. It was heartbreaking to watch him so frightened was he. I couldn’t stay and left in tears. The main question I posed to them was “Why if both of his back leg muscles were severed and irreparable, did you not euthanise him immediately instead of prolonging his pain and suffering unnecessarily “ I never signed a contract and was given no results of the additional X-rays I called many times asking for a copy of my contract to no avail.”
