“In my experience they make getting help if you're homeless just about impossible! You call, you get an answering machine and it tells you that you need to get an appointment, to get an appointment you have to call between these TWO specific hours on this SPECIFIC day. Then you're told that there ARE NO APPOINTMENTS AVAILABLE AGAIN, at this time!! Really?! When you're homeless, if it's specifically Monday, and you're calling on a Tuesday, 6 days away, before it's Monday again and you can call AGAIN to get told AGAIN that there are NO APPOINTMENTS, seems an eternity!!! I would NEVER HAVE THOUGHT that I would become homeless, but sometimes life throws you a curveball, I now have a brand new understanding of what the homeless people go through and my heart GOES OUT TO THEM! God bless them!! There really is JUST NO HELP FOR THE HOMELESS. So be understanding to them!! When you're out there in the same clothes you have been in for weeks and months, having ONLY WHAT YOU CAN CARRY AROUND WITH YOU, You become so hopeless and frustrated and you go to the internet looking for every organization that you possibly can that gives you SO MUCH MISINFORMATION, and you need to go HERE, THERE AND EVERYWHERE TO HAVE "INTAKES", and you don't have a car either, and you can't even scrape together enough coins to take a bus or light rail so you miss the INTAKE appointment...So you START OVER and call, tell them you're situation, how DESPITE AND FRIGHTENED AND HUNGRY AND TIRED AND DISAPPOINTED YOU ARE...So here you are again, making ANOTHER appointment hoping that on that day you'll have enough change to take a bus. Yada Yada, YADA!!!! Be KIND TO THE HOMELESS PEOPLE YOU SEE ON THE STREET!!! Say "HI, HOW YOU DOIN?! ACKNOWLEDGE THEM!!! SMILE FOR THEM!!! THEY ARE JUST LIKE THE REST OF US, EXCEPT LIFE THREW THIS HORRIFIC, FRIGHTENING, HOPELESS, CURVEBALL AT THEM!!! THEY'RE DOING THE BEST THAT THEY CAN!! Nobody, NOBODY WANTS TO BE LIVING IN THE STREETS, PARKS, UNDERPASSES, SHOPPING CENTERS ETC!! They are doing the best that they can but it really IS a hopeless situation!!@”

“Right in the center of beautiful Mitchell park that is bustling with activities! The kids loved playing in the park then visiting the library to search for books! They have great reading areas, designated areas for teens and kids too! It is large with all sections! In addition, they have computers, quiet rooms for groups, books for sale and eight outside is a delicious cafe to relax and drink or eat a light snack!”

“Just a generally unpleasant place to be. The staff is always rude, and yells at customers as if that will help things work out better. What's worse is there's clearly a lot of immigrants here trying to get their documentation sorted out, so their English isn't the best. Hearing DMV employees just shout at non-native English speakers is incredibly rude and inconsiderate and borderline racism. If someone cannot understand you clearly, try explaining it in simpler terms instead of just scolding them. The employees here seem to have a complete lack of disregard for any form of customer service.”

“This place is a joke. If you ever find your self in need of help, don’t call this place. They will ask you many personal questions only to give you a number for a shelter. I could have done that myself via google. The housing department is horrible. The person whom called me made me extremely uncomfortable, when I reached back out to next door solutions to place my concern, they said they will have someone else call me back. Only to have the same person call me back. Useless place. If you plan on donating here, Please donate elsewhere such as sacred heart, or Salvation Army where they will actually help people.”
