“I just wanted Friday night wings and beer and this joint delivered - nice hot unbreaded chicken wings served up the old fashioned way. It was a nice warm early September night and the patio was splendid. Poor folks in the far corner of the patio dined in darkness (see photo.) A bit more lighting would remedy this. Really nice traditional pub inside. Will have to return for a proper cozy indoor meal when the temps turn cold. Easy parking on the side streets.”

“My favourite pub in the whole city. Everything on the menu is delicious. I don't know what the chefs do to their burgers but it's some sort of crazy tasty magic. The rotating guest taps keep things fresh and the variety of beers are unique. Different stouts, lagers and sours. Service is always attentive, quick, kind and sometimes with humour. Relaxing atmosphere inside during the cold and rainy days and a nice rooftop patio during the summer months.”

“We just celebrated my daughters Confirmation at the Cellar.. It was AMAZING. So many SAFE gluten Free options and the food was delicious. “The mug was frosty, the beer cold and the wings delicious! This spot is becoming our “must stop” spot on our treks to cottage country. On this visit the wing special was on so we went for the original style with Calm the heat sauce ( Franks hot and blue cheese). 🤤Got hooked on this sauce on Vancouver Island last year. You must try! If you like them really saucy, ask for more! The perch bites and fries are great too. Wonderfully friendly staff. Lots of local patrons so you know it’s the place to go. Try them out!”

“Absolutely delicious fish and chips! They greeted me, told me I could sit anywhere, proceeded to their nice bathrooms, and then I got an amber old flame, which was also great. The fish and chips came with Ketchup, Gravy, and a great coleslaw. Everything was great, and our staff member was very helpful. Will be back again and again whenever we visit Whitby!”

“We had a great experience here for the most part! I will warn, make sure if you order drinks from the bar, know what you want well and how to substitute if need be even better. We tried to order a peach bellini cocktail, were served a hard seltzer by that name instead, and then got told after raising the issue that they couldn't make a peach bellini. I got the impression that the bartender wasn't sure what went into one. I was able to order a cocktail made to order to mimic the taste well, which was nice of them to accommodate, but it should be noted that this was my initiative - a substitute was not offered to us initially. In summary, if you're particular about your bar cocktails, it's probably better to find somewhere else, but if that isn't on your radar or if you understand mixology at least a bit, you should be fine. The food and atmosphere were great!”

“We ordered fish and chips and Chicken wings. We did not eat the wings because they were flavorless. The beer straight from the tap was delicious. Overall, the atmosphere was good. There was a lively crowd present during their good karaoke. There's one thing about this restaurant that you should exercise caution with. The waitress will still bring you beer/drinks even after you tell her you're done and ready for the bill. Out of consideration for her, you might not refuse and let her continue. “Classic pub experience. We went for Monday night wing night $8.5 / lb. There were plenty of flavors to choose from and about 20 beers on tap. I recommend the tequila lime wings as they were just the right amount of spice. Wings were large and juicy! “I'm surprised I have not reviewed this place when I have been here twice. First time was during lunch on a Saturday and I had the Jerk Chicken Fettuccine which was very delicious! And had 2 glasses of piña colada that day with 3 cherries on top each glass. Friends ordered the fish and chips, spaghetti with meatballs which I had on my 2nd visit to the place and I didn't like it. The meatballs were a bit salty and kind of dry. My friends seem to have enjoyed their Pub Classic chicken wings with varying spiciness and I wished that I ordered the same. I also had fried calamari which was good with 2 diff types of dipping sauce provided and a piña colada this time with only 1 cherry on top (see photos to compare). Will blame it on the economy and not on the bar. Too bad I didn't order their chocolate lava cake for the 2nd time around. My friends also had the Black Tiger Prawn Linguini (also salty I was told), Hawaiian fish tacos and Jake's Classic fish and chips. By around 8pm on that Friday night the Popp Gun band started playing with mixed repertoire from 60s-90s. We started playing "name that tune" in our table. Band wasn't pitch perfect but they were fun to sing along to and listen to, drums and the guitars were good. Overall we had a fun Friday night despite regretting my order and will be sticking to white sauce pasta for next time (Jerk chicken Fettuccine). Although I checked their menu online and this place still has a lot to offer and I was wondering why I didn't try their more interesting meals (unless the menu online is no longer updated vs the bar's actual menu). Photos really help in making decisions on what to order. Parking is not an issue and service is very good. We get checked once in a while unlike other places where you get annoyingly asked if you need anything else like every 10 minutes of interrupting your conversation or while you're busy chewing your food and you want to be left alone. Probably pressuring you to either order or vacate the table for other customers. I will be open to going back to Jake's if it's chosen again as our meet up venue. Perhaps on a Saturday night for next time. P.S. The washroom is kept clean which is one other important thing.”
