“I found The Long Room through my boss’ accountant’s colleague who was from Chicago. Yes, it was a very random happenstance, but a wonderful one, nonetheless. We booked a last minute trip to Chicago and we were connected with Ryan. He gave us so much great information about the town and what to do - we had to make the trip to the Long Bar just to meet him! We are so glad we met Ryan! He was helpful, knowledgeable, suggested beers and drinks. It was such a great time. We felt we were treated as friends - even family - and not tourists. “Great place to spend some time before getting on the train (no food available on most). Excellent service here!!! Waitperson (Beth) was friendly and very attentive and efficient. Good pub food, but disappointed in the chili - a few extra cans of drained beans in the pot and less liquid would have been appreciated. Prices were very reasonable. Look forward to visiting again!”

What was really special about Slightly Toasted is their bourbon and Whiskey collection. I had a 23 Year old Pappy, and a 2021 George T. Stagg. Oh my. Staggeringly good. However the atmosphere and service left a lot to be desired. This is a personal preference, but don’t love that they’re all communal tables (especially at this price point!). The folks next to us were incredibly loud and we could barely hear ourselves talk. It took so long for them to seat us despite having reservations, they brought out the wrong drinks (happens! Totally understand) but took so long to come back with the right order. The waiter didn’t really check on much — we had plans after and unfortunately weren’t able to get desert because of how slow the service was.”
