“I guess I just made a wrong choice. This vintage Japanese restaurant is famous for "sara-mori" which is a pork cutlet over rice with thick sauce. More than half of customers seemed to have ordered this one. I had a regular chicken udon which was quite ordinary (I mean I could make something like this at home) and nothing to write home about. Service was busy, with lots of pressure for prompt order, and not exactly friendly.”

“FOOD : Good! PLACE : Good! SERVICE : Ok. TOILET : Clean. PRICE : Fair. I met this place when I was heading to Kifune Temple. Hot Soba was really the perfect choice in the winter, it was raining at that time. The Soba was very delicious and the size was perfect. Eat it while its hot. The Place was authentic. 1st floor is the cashier. You need to take off your shoes before go to the 2nd floor for the lunch. I was lucky, no need to wait. Direct to 2nd floor and order the Soba. The Staffs are friendly and they can understand english. The menu also has food’s picture so its easy to order. It is Tatami style, I like it. This place is authentic, Japanese-Style. The toilet near the stair and its clean, no smell. It has slope too, if you want to use it. Its cold in the winter. This restaurant has fair price and I reccommend this for small group, family, couple and friend. If you go to Kifune Shrine, come have lunch in here.”

“Have been curious for a while now because there is typically a line or it’s fairly packed. Seats maybe 12 people, all counter seats. Typical of many ramen restaurants you pay at a vending machine. The items on the upper left are the most popular/recommended items or sets. Ordered the special (a few rows down on the vending machine), which is essentially their house ramen plus more chashu. First thing they ask is of you want garlic with it. Most people seem to go for the garlic. It’s not your run-in-mill ramen. Flavor of the meat is savory and marinated. The fresh garlic is strong. The soup was thick and not too salty. Overall I found it delicious, though the flavors were a bit too busy and complicated for my taste. I’d still recommend it, especially for those who’ve had one too many of the same flavor profile of ramen.”

“The tonkotsu shio ramen here packs a punch. Super flavourful but not cloyingly thick. The gyoza (5 pieces for ¥210) and onigiri (¥90) are very good too. The only thing is all the shouting that’s going on - the staff are trying to sound energetic - but it can feel like an assault on the ears.”

“I was confused as to whether I should buy the ticket first, but as I was lining up, a guy came out and guided me to the ticket machine (sorry...) It was also a very kind shop for those arriving by bicycle, with directions to the parking lot. As for the ramen, I feel like the volume of meat is a bit lacking compared to Jiro. “Yakitori with great value for money. We tried various dishes: chicken thigh was excellent, juicy meet with wonderful sauce. Beef yakitori was a bit chewy but sauce was great. Yam with quail egg was weird and a bit tasteless. Bell peppers were good by filling was poor. For desert we took waffle with cream which was surprisingly good.”
