“Can’t speak highly enough about this hotel. From start to finish, the stay was fabulous. The customer service was definitely a stand out. Everyone was so helpful, friendly and polite. We arrived early and they went out of their way to find us an available room. We were lucky enough to have the pool to ourselves both days!! The outdoor hot tub was great. The room was comfortable and clean. The shower pressure & temp was amazing!! Lunch in the bar and dinner in the restaurant were both fantastic, food was so delicious. Location is perfect, right in the centre of town. The Christmas decorations were beautiful and the piano player in the bar after dinner was a lovely touch.”

“My wife and I stayed here for two nights after our wedding as a mini honeymoon to just have time together before going back to real life. From the second we arrived we were treated like royalty!! Everyone congratulated us and made us feel special. Every single staff member went above and beyond for us. The afternoon tea, spa treatments and dinner were exemplary. The breakfast in bed was fantastic. The massage was the best we had ever experienced. I honestly cannot say enough great things. We felt so welcomed and it really made the entire week even more amazing which I didn’t think possible. Everything was catered for and we had the best time of our lives. If we can swing it financially we would go back every year for our anniversary and just relive every great moment we had!”

The food was nice, however its a basic procedure to serve food on a hot plate. Next morning, again cold plates left for breakfast. We started with the Angolotti/mushroom soup which was superb, seasoned well, light and airy soup. Breakfast was lovely and there was loads of variety. Only a 5 minute walk to the local village which was so pretty!! Beautiful views of the sea from the hotel. Bus stop is just a 5 minute walk and it's really easy to get into Reykjavik. Room was beautiful and the hotel is very clean. This hotel is on the pick up point for the Golden circle tour. The bed was really really comfy and we had a really deep bath. The atmosphere in the restaurant was amazing and the food was good! We definitely will be going back to hotel viking!!”

“Good - the staff is exceptional, particularly Jenny and Esteban. The grounds are nice for walking around and exploring. The barman is great and the live Irish music a delight. Having boardgames was also nice as we could play on rainy days. Dinners were delicious. If you want to get out of the city and escape to nature, it's a good option. Not so good - the majority of lampposts and lighting on the grounds are not working, so the walking trails are not safe after dark, even with cellphone lights. At the lake house the parking is away from the house which you also need to walk in the dark. An Irish country side getaway however it is not. The decor feels sparse, the breakfast area cold and awkward, and no where is there any Irish art or inspiration despite being in gorgeous West Cork - it could've been anywhere in the world. The library and bar doesn't have enough seating for the amount of people who will want to sit and have a drink during busy times. And there's a pamphlet on the place's history - but it's just a list of renovations and owners. Look up the history yourself, particularly about the garden wall.”

“I read the reviews beforehand and I can say the hotel has listened to the feedback and reviews. The service was lovely, genuinely, caring and interested. The food catered to a broad range of cultures. What we and our co-travellers ate was delicious and fresh. The staff and chef constantly checked the food and its levels and the general cleanliness. The rooms were simple, but clean, warm, functional and had everything we needed. Plus there was 2 seats for relaxing. It’s central to a number of tourist locations. It has a great view and varying options for accommodation. So please consider what you are paying for. We had we had the second level of rate room which is obviously better than the lowest. Which addresses some of the other review complaints. It’s worth giving them a go. They have listened.”
