“We booked a table for four at Auberege du Cheval Blanc through the Fork. We received numerous emails prior to our visit from The Fork, Michelin and from Auberege du Cheval prior to our visit. This included a request for a credit card which we responded to. We even received a confirmation email from the restaurant the day before our visit. When we arrived, we were told by a stern faced young lady that there is no reservation. We must be at the wrong restaurant. We then showed the confirmation email. We were then told we hadn’t provided credit card information. We then showed the confirmation we had. We were then told there is no table available. As gracious as we were through this exchange and requesting to have them make some accommodations of any sort, the women at the desk never cracked a smile, never apologized for any mistakes even as we continued to show proof of our reservation for that date (December 17, 2023) and that seating. She continued with a self-righteous attitude in the face of documentation to the contrary. She then begrudgingly got the Chef’s wife to come out. This time only with acknowledgement of their errors. Not once was an I’m sorry uttered or any apology or reparation made. No offer of attending a different day, no accommodation of any sort. I truly find it shocking that an establishment with such a lack of service or quality of management has earned a Michelin Star. A Michelin Star used to carry a level of service and professionalism as well as the quality of the food and dining experience. I am saddened that I feel I can no longer depend on a Michelin Guide rating.”

“First off it says it’s a 3 star hotel. It is not. It is a 4.5 star hotel without a doubt!!! And the staff make it feel VIP for they are so lovely! All the ladies at the front desk, the sweet breakfast woman too! The hotel itself is something else- just wait until you see the view!!!! Just WoW! It’s like 3 min from the train station and they have a shuttle to take you. Our room was full of wood like a cabin feel, so nice, with a beautiful modern bathroom. It was simple super cozy, kind of perfectly romantic for New Years Eve while it snowed huge snowflakes outside. For a longer stay I’d splurge for a bigger room but for one night it was perfect! The view of the Grace hotel lit up, the NYE fireworks, and the lake off the balcony was just awesome (room 408). The whisky bar is incredible and the fact you can smoke a cigar inside there it’s fantastic!”

“Beautiful enchanting grounds, nice rooms, nice front desk staff. Went for our honeymoon and made this known to them but nothing was done to make it feel a little extra special, as other hotels that were less than 5 stars did. You are charged a daily fee for using the pool which was off putting, as the nightly cost is already high. The bar food was really delicious, better than the restaurant food menu. Great place to relax but felt like something was missing service wise. It was great having a gym on site.”

Overlooking the beach, yachts, sunset, and mountains was beautiful and made it an excellent dining experience. We had cocktails to go with our starters. We then had salmon and steak for dinner with a delicious rosé. The staff was friendly and kind when we had questions. They spoke English well. We loved watching the sun go down as we were served each course. When it came to dessert time we relaxed with cheesecake and sorbet with espresso. Unfortunately, my partner and I had to change our trip plans due to some serious, unexpected family health issues. I reached out just a few hours after the cancel deadline with the hopes of simply moving our reservation so as to not lose the $1600+ we spent for a room. The hotel took 5 days to respond to the request (and multiple were sent) only to say they couldn't do anything about it and thus we have to forfeit the full amount. Really disappointing policies and customer service for a supposed "luxury" brand. Had they budged even a little and at least let us rebook to different dates, then they would've gained a loyal customer for years to come. Instead, they're getting this review, I'll never spend my money at Relais & Châteaux again, and I'll encourage friends and family to avoid them as well.”
