“A lovely 4 night stay in a spacious dog friendly lodge with hot tub. Pleasant surroundings, in the middle of the countryside, very quiet, nice walks. Enjoyed the gym, hydro pool, steam room and sauna. Pleasant restaurant with dog friendly section, service a little slow considering how quiet it was. Lodge itself was clean, modern with an abundance of hot water…very cosy. Could do with more towels for hot tub use and a mop to dry the floor after use…it’s quite a walk to the showers. All in all a really great place, would be happy to return and recommend.”

“Arrived at hotel no sign of our booking, showed email and receipt and this still wasnt good enough. Night porter wanted me to pay again. I said No, then he agreed to give us a room but wanted me to leave my credit card behind desk - I said No, then he asked us for our ID and I showed him my driving licence, this wasn't good enough - he wanted identification cards. He then wanted to keep hold of my driving license - it was now 1.30am and I wasnt very happy! I refused and then said he can photo copy it - he said he didnt know how to do this and then took a picture of my driving license! - room isn't great! Dated, carpets filthy!”

“Sells as 4 stars. I can only presume January is down season. From basics in the room not working, heating, shower, bathroom light only the heating was repaired. To a highly restricted food menu, due to having our dog with us. This was a present for me so I don't know, but I guess the dinner, b&b package was not at a reduced price for having a food option of limited reheated convenience foods, eg frozen fish in batter n chips. Very disappointing.”

“Wonderful stay. All the staff were excellent, friendly and attentive. Nothing was too much trouble. A shout out to Jo who made us laugh so much, she's such a character and to Richard, the manager who went out of his way to make sure we enjoyed our stay. Lovely food in the snug bar and breakfast was to die for. The Christmas lights, were as always very nice but a shame about the weather but we have booked again and are very much looking forward to going back. Thank you for a lovely stay.”

“It is one of the best places to visit in the area. Check the tide chart and plan accordingly the time of arrival and departure from the island. There is a great fireplace in the pub. On a bright day the vistas from the top of the hill are not to be missed. The car park is a bit of a gamble, but there is overflow parking as well. Enjoy.”
