“Nice soup, good salad, very nice chips, tasty 'Christmas in a mug', very delicious, small slice of cherry something cheesecake. Others seem to really enjoy their burgers, another had haggis meal which looked to me like a child's portion, but may have made up in taste. Lots of green, which I like, otherwise would suggest three stars for food. Not too crowded this time and service error apologised for.”

“Deserves a Michelin star, no doubt. Perfectly chosen ingredients that are married together in a culinary piece of art painted on every plate. The restaurant is beautiful and the service is outstanding. Legendary cocktails to make your meal even more memorable. Memorable meal indeed.”

“A great find thanks to the Michelin Guide, where Number 16 very much deserves to be. Lovely little place with very friendly staff, really delicious food (the cured sea bass to start was absolutely exceptional). Really glad to have found this place: highly recommend.”

“Lovely bistro located at the side of the river. Menu was good and we enjoyed the battered fish supper. My son had the potted crab and really enjoyed it. The cider on tap was crisp and refreshing. Highly recommended”

“First class experience. Excellent service and food was top notch. We had two course lunch, all dishes extremely tasty and portion sizes were huge. Highly recommend!”

“Authentic Italian in downtown Glasgow. They took our party quickly on a busy night without a reservation. The service was attentive through a group effort. The food was delicious and truly authentic. The minestrone soup was perfect. Fresh vegetables, served hot, with just the right amount of salt. The slices of haggis and black pudding was surprisingly tasty for my first time. Don’t ask what it is made of, just try it and you will find an unusual, but pleasant flavor and texture. The medallion of veal fillet alla Milanese was a tender, hearty portion of veal pounded thin, coated in light breading, and served hot. Delicious from the first bite to the last. The table next to me ordered the lyonnaise potatoes and they looked so good I had to order them as well. They were superb and tasted as good as they looked. Welcoming, charming place with more than reasonable pricing especially on the alcohol. Must visit if you like Italian.”

“Great, cozy atmosphere. Amazing lunch deal. Tom Yam soup was delicious. The Korean beef was a disappointment as it was supposed to be spicy, but turned out to be completely bland. Good service.”
8-10 Grindlay St, Edinburgh EH3 9AS, United Kingdom
“I have visited Kanpai Sushi twice for lunch in the summer of 2021 in a small group and a dinner in a larger group recently. Really nice: - extensive menu, large restaurant that is relatively calm and quiet with the sushi chefs working at a visible counter. - the ice creams are delicious - some of the sushi dishes are creative and delicious too (liked the maki wrapped in buckwheat) Room for improvement: - the service can get rather slow in the busy times and we got some of our orders confused while acting annoyed :( - the sizes of the dishes are difficult to predict, some nigiri sushi and sashimi can be very small. Make sure to confirm. I would probably try it again when it's calmer for lunch.”

“We had one of the best meals ever. The steaks are awesome. The side dishes, ambience and service, really elevate the experience. If you're looking for an exceptional steak restaurant in Edinburgh, you‘ve come to the right place.”

“What can I say I liked the food so much I went again. It's small so it can get pretty busy but it's well worth the wait. The food is just so delicious and the frozen margaritas are a bit too easy to drink. The lady was kind enough to warn others certain dishes can be spicy and which ones are popular. The steak was so tender, actually all the meats were very tender but so tasty. One of my favourite meals in Edinburgh. Ribs were quite a big portion the sauce was tasty not so spicy it made it hard to eat. The beef was sublime and the ox tongue was wonderful with its crispy outside with soft middle. Enjoy people.”
