“My husband and I are here from the US. We were headed to ChinaTown when we passed this restaurant and made a u-turn. I had Chicken Goa Medium heat, very good. Husband had Tandoori Chicken. He hardly spoke to me due to enjoying his dish. The owner is a precious man! Thoroughly enjoyed the place!”

“are you vitamin butter deficient? are you feeling down and low? what you need is a good dose of fresh food prepared well with a healthy dose of vitamin butter everything was delicious but the salmon was particularly perfect highly recommend ordered 3 mains + 1 side of fries (over salted) + 1 mushroom side 3 adults totally stuffed to bursting no room for appetizers or dessert”

“Excellent food and service from Ryan. Great ambience. A very enjoyable dinning experience. The calamari is light and crispy. Lightly salted. The rack of lamb cooks perfectly. The ossobuco and the bone marrow is rich and tender. Slightly on the salty side to my liking. The cappuccino is delicious. Overall we are impressed and delighted to find another good restaurant that worth revisiting. They acknowledge the booking was for a birthday celebration at the front desk however there are no special celebrations or anything offered by the restaurant so I’m not sure the purpose of asking when I made reservation.”

“Honestly the best individual hotpot experience. Highly recommend the sukiyaki soup base with the short plate combo. Daily drink specials (non-alcoholic) are always amazing. We had lychee green tea and winter melon tea the time before and it was 🔥 The staff are always incredible and the service is fast. Only bummer is no reservations but you can join the waitlist online!”

“We had brunch at this place! The atmosphere is cozy and perfect for a great brunch in the middle of downtown. The service was excellent. We started with truffle Parmesan and then I ordered the sourdough avocado toast with a poached egg/egg whites. Also tried the Turkey Club House with a side of Caesar Salad. We’re definitely going back to explore their dinner menu. Although the bill came to $90, which is a bit pricey for a brunch spot, we truly enjoyed the atmosphere and vibe.”

“I've tried the drunken noodles, coconut soup, pad thai, green curry, red curry, and iced tea. Perfect spice levels. My favourites were the drunken noodles and red curry but everything was very good. The drunken noodles I had both mild and medium spice. I would get medium again next time but mild had a bit of a kick as well. The interior is cosy and warm...maybe a tad too warm for all the spicy foods I was eating! Service was great, very friendly and efficient.”

“A mind-blowing experience! I never thought I would like vegetarian food but here I'm writing a 5-star review for this restaurant. I always had the perception that Chinese vegetarian dishes were boring because they were all vegetables and soy products after all. Po Kong has opened my eyes to the variety in flavors that vegetarian dishes could offer. Each dish has its own distinct flavor, and the sauces that came with every deep fried dish did elevate it further. Among all the dishes I tried, I would highly recommend the marinated starters 3 kinds, the deep fried taro cake and the spinach noodles. The starters offered 3 different textures and flavors in one dish which are awesome. The deep fried taro cake was crispy outside, and smooth and rich inside. It's an absolute delicacy. The spinach noodles were very well seasoned and al dente. The bean sprouts and the enoki mushrooms also added different layers of textures. I will definitely visit again to try other dishes. From a meat lover to other meat lovers out there: Po Kong really worths a try!”

“Items Ordered -Assiete de Charcuterie -Salt Spring Island Mussels Pot -Duck Breast (Highly Recommend) -Braised Beef (Highly Recommend) -Crème Brûlée Dining Experience: Bread and butter was brought to the table as per most French Restaurant practices. (Summary of this review can be found below) Started off with the charcuterie. The charcuterie was very delicious, everything on the charcuterie plate meld together wonderfully in terms of flavour and texture. Saltspring Island Mussels were also ordered to the table, the mussels were cooked perfectly with their plump and sweet flesh intact with no signs of mushiness. The sauce the mussels were cooked in was very delicious and the bread soaking up the sauces was very flavourful. The fibrous “beards” of the mussels were removed as well showing great care and attention by the chef. The Duck Breast and Braised Beef were the highlights of the dining experience. The duck breast exhibited a crispy lightly salted exterior that was so flavourful, the meat was not dry and was quite perfect. The duck breast was not too chewy which means it was cooked perfectly! I am personally not a fan of duck due to my previous experiences at other places, but the way they cooked it here made me a believer again! Converted to the Church of Duck and singing Hallelujah! 🙏 Braised Beef with the truffle potato puree was super delicious and every bite was full of flavour. We then had crème brûlée for dessert. The crème brûlée was very typical and pleasant. However, one can skip the crème brûlée and feel comfort in knowing they did not miss out on anything. Service: Service is excellent, no complaints. They were very friendly and attentive. Overall Summary: Fantastic food, focus on substance is a big factor in this restaurant. Do not miss out on the Braised Beef and Duck Breast. Restaurant is located in a strange industrial area and the interior is cramped, but no fault of the restaurant, the food is the main focus and they do show it! However, the location does make it a “hole in the wall” which adds to the charm! Especially for you young folks are into the instagram and want to appear unique by dining at those slightly hidden places. The food was absolutely delicious and cooked perfectly. However, dessert can be skipped as it is typical and generic. Thank you for reading!”
